Large house that smells of lavender! A basket of attentions awaits us on arrival. And there is room in the cupboards to store our provisions! It is well equipped, the air conditioning in the bedrooms was appreciated. There is plenty to get active with a swimming pool, table tennis and badminton, and plenty of relaxation with deckchairs and a comfortable lounge. Maggie is committed to our satisfaction and has been able to be responsive even if communication in French is not easy. An exotic stay!

Amazing place and a really helpful host. The view is stunning and the house is cute and clean. Was a great week for us.

Jeff V. August 2021

Our stay at the house was amazing. Everything you need for a splendid holiday is provided, and the welcome basket is a nice touch. The house is well located for small trips to the surrounding villages, but especially for calmness. If you just want to rest, this house is perfect. And if you want to discover, it’s also perfect.

Katrien H. August 2021

The cottage is exactly as it looks like on the pictures. The environment is very quiet. It is the perfect place to relax and read while the kids are swimming in the pool.

What a wonderful place! We loved everything about the gite – a real home from home.
Weather a little mixed but we braved the pool anyway.
luckily finished in sunshine which gave us a real taste of what it would be like in the height of the summer.
Loved Issegiac market + cooking fresh produce. Monbazillac chateau and Bergerac.

In the sun

The cottage was very well equipped and the location was perfect.
The pool was very cold and subject to many flies and other insects falling into it. It needed cleaning out more often (I am not sure that anyone visited to do this in the whole week we were there.
The stairs were very creaky and all the treads in the house were very high, as opposed the the many low beams upstairs, some of which could do with some protective foam.

Reply from holidaycottagesandvillas.com:

Thanks for taking the time to review your stay at Les Bartelles. The owner has checked with the person responsible for pool maintenance and has confirmed that it was cleaned mid-week during your stay but there was no-one at the gite at his time of visit. We do make a statement on our website that there are low beams in the bedrooms so that guests are aware of this before making a reservation.

The house was beautiful, the pool was amazing and the setting couldn’t have been better. It was peaceful, the views were fantastic, the house was perfect and the beds were comfortable.
We have recommended the property to a number of friends who asked for details when we posted holiday pictures on social media.

Great property, well equipped from good sized swimming pool through to air conditioning in bedrooms. Everything has been thought of and provided for, even down to wood and charcoal for the BBQ

White party. July 2018

A lovely gite. Peaceful but close to amenities. The infinity pool is superb. We have visited this gite 3 times and will return again next year.

Reply from holidaycottagesandvillas.com:

Thanks for your lovely comments, we very much appreciate your return custom at Les Bartelles and look forward to welcoming you back again next year.

Bailey party. June 2018

Fantastic pool. Look out for deer, coypu and buzzards. If you go to Issigeac Sunday – be there for 8.00!

David and Patricia. August 2017

Brilliant gite with everything anyone could want in terms of supplies. The views and pool are simply stunning and the garden is a wonderful shady area on hot days. Recommend Issigeac market (good advice about an 8 a.m. start), a barge trip on the Dore at Bergerac and canoeing at Limeuil. Thanks for a fabulous stay and some outstanding weather (37⁰)!

As frequent visitors to the Dordogne, this has been one of the best gites we have stayed in. The pool was excellent, the surrounding views stunning and the house had everything we needed. We’ve had a wonderful two week stay in the Dordogne with beautiful weather. Thank you.
It was always a surprise when we opened the shutters – which wildlife were we cohabiting with next!

McHallum Family. July 2017

Thank you for a fantastic week in a superb location. It was an extra treat to see Le Tour go through, but we’d have enjoyed it just for the châteaux, food, wine and wildlife

Fabulous stay – we’ll be back! Thank you!

A Little Slice of Heaven

The pictures don’t do justice to the property. The gite is extremely well equipped, comfortable and spacious and my disabled 11 year old son had no access problems on the ground floor of the property. The shady grounds are lovely, the pool is wonderful and the views are stunning. So peaceful and relaxing. The wifi also worked perfectly. Temperatures ranged from 26c to 37c but the aircon and fans kept the house cool at night. We cannot recommend the property highly enough.
M.S. August 2016

Blissfully peaceful with wonderful pool
★ ★ ★ ★
Property has very low doors and ceilings beams upstairs which I thought could be a problem for 6’4″ male, but he did not hit is head once.
The peace and quiet was just to die for. What we both really needed. No noise at all at night and hardly any during the day.
The area gave plenty of options to go out and visit different markets almost every day of the week. Great villages to explore. We went to a market every day except Monday, information on these other markets would have been a useful addition to the information pack.
Another useful addition would have been instructions on how to use the television. I think it took us most of the week to work out how to do this. We felt that the property could have been left in a cleaner state and my husband changed bulbs that were not working.
I would recommend this property to a friend and almost booked to return next year but decided to go to a different area.
Patricia, August 2016
(Note from owner – we are very grateful for your feedback and are sorry that you felt the property could have been cleaner on your arrival.  This is the first time we have received such feedback and would like to assure you that this is being acted upon.)

“We had an amazing week at Les Bartelles.  Everything from the very sweet welcome package to the seclusion and privacy of the cottage not to mention the amazing pool and tranquillity.  I am the swimmer so to have a pool virtually to myself was incredible.  We loved going out each day to a different market…….
It was so easy to drive too from Dieppe – we were in St Emilion by 8.30 pm having left the ferry at 2! – we were thinking of even going down in the autumn for a long weekend.
Thank you for sharing your lovely cottage with us.”
The Johnson’s, July 2016

The photos on the website didn’t do it justice. We couldn’t believe what a lovely place it was. The standard of accommodation was very high and all perfectly restored to an excellent standard. There was nothing you could have needed. The swimming pool was outstanding and very good for serious swimmers as well as just for relaxation. The view was stunning. The area is very nice but its tempting to stay in the Gite because its so pleasant. Air Conditioning was a bonus and much appreciated. It was so good we have booked again for next year.
Catherine B, June 2016

“Would like to thank the owners and management of Les Bartelles, I have stayed in a number of holiday let properties and always find that it is the attention to detail that makes the difference, and this gite had all those touches to make the stay excellent. The directions from the airport were clear to the letter, the suggestions for local places were fair (no exaggeration which I appreciate), the place is spotless but without losing the ability to be functional.

We knew that any outdoor pool would be chilly in early May but it was so clean and the sun was out so had to give it a go!

A lovely spot with a great view, character and the old (love a wood burner) and mod (dishwasher is absolutely ideal) cons that you could ask for, a very easy place to stay for a weekend and just wish we could have stayed a bit longer!”
Mr Parry, May 2016

“I just wanted to drop you a quick email to say what a wonderful time we had at Les Bartelles, last week. Getting to the Gite was very easy as the instructions you provided were spot-on. Upon arrival we were greeted with a very cute basket of ‘essentials’ including a delicious local wine. The Gite itself is beautiful in the most serene, picturesque countryside and thus exactly what we were hoping for. The pool certainly did not disappoint and is one of many excellent features of the site. The amenities are perfect, and the Gite is decorated in a wonderfully rustic, French way! The outdoor eating area is fantastic with great views over the rolling French countryside, and we spent many a meal time sat out there enjoying locally bought food, and even more locally purchased wine!
Overall, the location is perfect, the Gite is wonderful and we will certainly be returning next year, many thanks.”
Stephen D, September 2015

“We have had a wonderful stay at ‘Les Bartelles’. The gite is charming with everything you need, especially the great pool area. Also it is in a picturesque setting, we will be back
Steve & Sophie, September 2015
