Les Bartelles is a 200 year old stone barn, this Dordogne holiday cottage has 2 bedrooms with air conditioning and a private securely gated, fenced infinity swimming pool, situated within the beautiful Dordogne region near Bergerac, south west France.
This tranquil countryside location offers the perfect place to relax and unwind with wonderful views and perfect for sunsets. A good selection of local cafe bars, restaurants, supermarket and the weekly market is just a short drive away from the historical town of Eymet (10km).
Within easy reach of other bastide towns, chateaux and vineyards. 11km from the medieval village of Issigeac with its famous Sunday morning market.
This Dordogne holiday villa is a short drive (14km) from the Renaissance Monbazillac Chateau and village (producers of a famous AOC sweet wine) and the ancient town centres of Monsegur 40km (Gironde) and Duras 32km (Lot et Garonne), Bergerac 22km (Dordogne), Lauzun 10km and Sainte Foy la Grande 35km these towns have bars, restaurants, banks, shops and supermarkets as well as weekly farmers markets and night market in the peak summer months. Not forgetting the famous Saint Émilion 67km and Bordeaux city 129km.
All facilities of this holiday home are for your exclusive use during your stay.
The 2 main bedrooms are located in the eaves of the house, the natural character of the property means that some of the beams/doorways are quite low. Air conditioning is in bedrooms 1 and 2, a hairdryer is also provided.

Small room located on the ground floor that has a single bed that can be used as additional sleeping space. A maximum of 4 guests in total is permitted.

The modern well-equipped kitchen has a good range of facilities including a dishwasher, electric oven with 4 gas rings, extractor hood, microwave, fridge-freezer, kettle, toaster and dining table seating up to 6 people.
Laundry area with washing machine, iron and ironing board.
The cosy lounge has a wonderful fireplace with a wood-burning stove, TV with French and English speaking Satellite free to air channels. French doors open onto the west-facing covered shaded terrace, gardens with valley views over the Dordogne countryside.
Bed linen, bath towels, pool towels are provided and included in the price.

There are x1 cot, x1 highchair and stair gate are available on request. Please provide your own cot linen/bedding.
The garden and barn
Enjoy breakfast on the covered shaded terrace overlooking the garden and rolling countryside beyond. A BBQ is provided for alfresco eating and there is plenty of outside furniture.
The garden surrounds the property, in a peaceful setting.
Private off-road parking plus covered parking in the barn opposite the cottage for one car, in the other part of the barn is table tennis.
Private infinity pool
The infinity pool measures 11.5m x 7.5m and 1.5m deep, has walk-in steps at one end and a sun terrace with loungers and parasols all with stunning views over the valley below. The chlorine pool is securely fenced and gated.

The local area and what to do, Eymet/ Monsegur / Duras, Bordeaux and the Dordogne, France
Situated in the Dordogne region near the town of Eymet (10km) in Aquitaine within the Bordeaux wine region and on the border of the Dordogne, Gironde and Lot et Garonne, France.
Bordeaux city centre is 129km to the west and Bergerac is 22km to the north.
This is the ideal base from which to explore South West France. Located in the region of Aquitaine on the 3 borders of Gironde / Dordogne / Lot et Garonne and is considered to be one of the most picturesque areas of France.
The gently rolling countryside is a pleasure to explore, with excellent roads winding their way through fields and vineyards. Perfect cycling country!
11km from the medieval village of Issigeac with its famous Sunday morning market.
Eymet 10 km, Monsegur 40km, Miramont de Guyenne 19km and Duras 32km are ancient Bastide towns set around a market square which are host to weekly markets and also a weekly night market during the peak summer season. There is a good selection of shops including cafes, bars and a pizzeria which host’s weekly live music.
There is also Cinema Eden in Monsegur, which does show international films in their original language version (VO), a selection of English speaking films with French subtitles.
The market squares are host to many festivals and events throughout the year.
Wine and Gastronomy
The Bordeaux wine region has 21 appellations. Visit some of the many local Caves and Chateau that offer free tastings and tours while you choose a bottle or two.
Not to be missed is the world-famous Saint Emilion, 67km away. A designated world heritage site and is truly stunning. Explore characteristic narrow lanes lined with wine merchants, cafes, restaurants and interesting independent shops. A guided tour of the monolithic church is highly recommended.

The beautiful bastide town of Bergerac is well worth a visit. Set on the banks of the Dordogne river there is plenty to see here including a weekly market, a museum or take a boat trip on the river and watch the lovely scenery pass you by.

This designated world heritage site is a must for all visitors. This cosmopolitan city offers a diverse range of attractions. The golden triangle has a fabulous range of shops for those shopaholics.
A rich variety of architecture forms the backdrop for the street cafe’s, restaurants, bars and not forgetting the superb Grand Theatre.
The Dordogne is just one of the many places to visit for day trips. Anything from Canoeing or boat trips on the Dordogne river to exploring ancient villages.

Both Monsegur and Duras also have night markets during the summer where you can eat and have a drink as well as browse the many stalls.
Coast, Beach and Water park
A freshwater lake with a sandy beach at Blasimon is 60km away and is a popular attraction to take children for a day out. The gently shelving sand provides a fun environment for splashing around and cooling off in the heat of the summer sun. Blasimon lake.
Aqua Park is 23km located near Bergerac. Beach, canoeing and a water park.
Aqua Fun Park near Casteljaloux is 65km. Park with a huge freshwater lake, picnic benches, walks, facilities, man-made sandy beach, water sports, kids play area…. great for adults and kids.
Visit Europe’s largest sand dune 182km, the Dune du Pilat where both the climb and the views will take your breath away! Reward yourself with fresh seafood from the Bay of Arcachon or take the ferry to Cap Ferret and feel the sand between your toes whilst you enjoy oysters and chilled white wine.
Yes, we believe chocolate is also an activity, we often have to visit to make sure the quality is up to standard… Maison Guinguet gourmet chocolate, 32km, near Duras, a nice shop to visit, also selling gifts and offers guided visits to their artisan factory in July and August.
The famous Chateau de Duras, 32km. It’s well worth a visit, climb to the top and see the stunning 360-degree vista.

The French countryside around this property is perfect for cycling whether it’s just a gentle ride around to explore or if you are a keen cyclist, a long training ride on fantastic stretches of road to get the blood pumping whilst taking in the fantastic views.

Carbon road bike hire is available, collected from Bordeaux train station and you can ride back to your holiday villa using part of the old railway line (Roger Lapebie) which is now dedicated to cycling and walking.

Tennis courts are located in Monsegur, Saint-Vivien-de-Monségur, Duras and St Sernin de Duras, usually booked via the local tourist information office.
Canoeing and kayaking
Canoe hire is available on the rivers. The river Dropt winds through the valley with a slow flow on it,
whilst the Dordogne river at Sainte Foy La Grande has a faster pace and has plenty of canoe hire opportunities.
There are pay and play golf courses within the area, the best being the beautiful Chateau Des Vigiers Golf and Country Club 27km. The chateau dates back to 1597 and is set in 450 acres of stunning countryside. Facilities also include a fine restaurant and a relaxing beauty spa. Local markets and supermarkets
Most villages and towns hold weekly markets full of fresh and interesting local produce. An ideal place to pick up your holiday mementoes and gifts too.
Issigeac (12km): Every Sunday morning. Extremely popular. Top tip – arrive early!
Eymet (11km): Every Thursday morning. Medieval town.
Duras (32km): Every Monday.
Allemans du Dropt (22km): Every Sunday morning.
Sainte Foy La Grande (35km): Every Saturday from 8.30 to 12:00. Big market with excellent producers and winner of “Favourite French Market” in 2014.
Monségur (40km): Every Friday from 8.30 to 12. Is a nice small market with a particularly good fish stall.
Both Monsegur and Duras also have vibrant night markets during the peak summer months grab a bite to eat from one of the stalls and enjoy your food with a drink at one of the bars. There’s usually musical entertainment which creates a lively atmosphere.
