Experience a French countryside retreat at Favreau, a traditional farmhouse full of rustic character. Tucked away on 10 hectares of private land, guests enjoy total privacy and sweeping views across the vineyards of the Bordeaux wine region. Whether you’re relaxing by the private heated pool or walking through the onsite orchards, Favreau is great for families seeking a tranquil holiday home near Saint-Émilion and Bergerac.
Situated near the Gironde and Lot-et-Garonne borders, this spacious villa is just minutes from the vibrant Bastide towns of Monsegur and Duras. From local weekly markets to fine dining, everything the region is famous for is right on your doorstep. Favreau lies between Bordeaux, Bergerac, and Saint-Émilion, close to the Dordogne border.
Favreau welcomes families and groups, accommodating up to 10 adults and 13 guests.
Location
Explore ancient Bastide towns like Monsegur (Gironde) and Duras (Lot-et-Garonne), both just a 5–10-minute drive away, offering restaurants, bars, shops, supermarkets, and weekly markets.
A 3.5 km walk along country lanes leads to the village of Dieulivol, home to a cafe-bar serving drinks and light meals, with BBQs and local wines available by request. Fresh bread is available from the post office or the cafe on Sundays. The village also boasts an ancient church with stunning valley views and a grotto to discover.
Wine lovers can visit a nearby vineyard just 1.2 km away, while families can enjoy a tree adventure and climbing park 2 km from the property—fun for the whole family.
Bedrooms and Bathrooms
Favreau’s layout blends traditional charm with spacious living, offering five bedrooms across two floors.
Please note: Due to the building’s style and character, Favreau is not wheelchair-accessible.
Ground Floor (3 Bedrooms / 4 Bathrooms)
- 1. Double room (180x190cm bed) with a small en-suite shower room and WC.
- 2. Double room (160x200cm bed) with en-suite bathroom, bath, separate walk-in shower, and WC.
- 3. Double room (160x200cm bed) with a small en-suite shower room and WC.
- An additional guest bathroom is also located on the ground floor.
Upper Floor (2 Bedrooms / 1 Bathroom)
- 4. Double room (140x190cm). Note: Restricted head height due to beams. Access via bathroom or dormitory.
- 5. Children’s dormitory with 5 single beds (90x190cm) plus a double bed (140x190cm).
- Shared wood-panelled bathroom with bath, twin sinks, and a separate WC.
Baby Facilities
- Three cots (linen provided) and 2 high chairs are available on request.
Kitchen, Dining, and Living
- The Kitchen: A beamed kitchen with a stone fireplace opening onto the garden. Fully equipped with dishwasher, microwave, large fridge-freezer, range-style oven, Nespresso, and Dualit coffee machines. Includes a separate utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer.
- Dining: The kitchen dining table seats 8. Outside, there are dining tables in the shade.
- Lounge: Features views of the pool, English Freesat/French TV, and a fireplace (wood available as an extra on request).
Private Pool and Exterior
- The Pool: 11m x 5m private heated pool flanked by 2 grand pigeonniers; these pigeonniers are not used. Features corner steps and depths ranging from 0.9m to 1.75m. Security alarm fitted. Pool heating is available (may be charged as an extra, see Prices).
- Al Fresco Living: Converted barn provides a shady lounge and games area with table tennis, a dartboard, charcoal BBQ, and outside WC/shower.
- The grounds: Set at the end of a tree-lined driveway, the grounds surround the property. Featuring natural gardens, mature trees, a meadow, and an adjoining plum orchard and vineyard. Discover the secret island… a family of ragonder (coypu) live in the moat, they are very timid and fascinating to watch. Deer live in the valley, if you are quiet you will see them.

Favreau accommodates up to 13 guests, including children aged 18 months and older, and no more than 10 adults. Three baby cots (linen provided) and 2 high chairs are available on request.
Shops and supermarkets close from lunchtime on Sundays. A meal drop-off service, hamper and private catering are available from Loving Aquitaine.
Reservation Information:
No booking fee.
A 25% deposit secures a reservation with the balance payable 8 weeks before rental commencement.
A security bond of £500 is pre-authorised against a credit card 7 – 10 days before arrival and will be cancelled subject to satisfactory inspection after departure.
An extra security deposit of £250 applies to bookings with pets.

Dog friendly:
A maximum of 2 dogs is considered upon request at a charge of £50 per dog per booking, plus an additional security bond of £250.

Favreau is situated near the towns of Duras 10km (Lot et Garonne), Monsegur 7km (Gironde), Sainte-Foy-La-Grande 23km, Bergerac (Dordogne), 46km, in the region of Aquitaine within the Bordeaux wine region and on the borders of the Dordogne, Gironde and Lot et Garonne, France.
3.5km walk via country lanes to the village of Dieulivol, where there is a cafe-bar that serves drinks and light snacks. By special request, they can create a BBQ meal for you, and you can also buy ice cream or a bottle of local wine.
Daily fresh bread from the post office or the cafe bar on Sundays, by request.
There is also an ancient church with stunning views over the valley, and there is a grotto to discover; it’s well worth the walk.

Bordeaux city centre is just 65km to the west and Bergerac is 46km to the east, Saint Emilion 38km north.

We had a wonderful 8 nights at the house. Loved picking the figs, walnuts & apples for breakfast. Walking in the vineyard was very peaceful. The swimming pool was larger than the photos and we all enjoyed a daily dip. We were a family of 7 adults & 2 dogs, the house has plenty of room for all and a wonderful kitchen space. Lots of good restaurants, 10 mins drive, would recommend the wine tasting at a local vineyard, 15 mins away. I would highly recommend this property and the area for a relaxing holiday.

We spent a great half-term week at Favreau. We were two families of 4 adults, 4 teenagers, + 2 dogs. There was plenty of room for everyone; you never felt under each other’s feet. The outdoor space really made it for us, especially as we were lucky to get a week of glorious sunshine. Great games area and the pool is just fabulous with outdoor loungers and a table for alfresco dining, which we took full advantage of. Many thanks to Pascal for making check-in/check-out so easy & for being on hand if we needed anything – much appreciated!

Our stay at Le Favreau was wonderfully relaxing – the surroundings, the pool, the spaciousness and character of the house and the warm welcome from Pascal all made it into a holiday to remember. The pool was a great hit with the whole family – from oldies to the two year olds. The local wildlife – frogs, coipyu, woodpeckers, bats, etc added another dimension that we hadn’t expected. The peace and magic of the house and its surroundings reminded me of Le Domaine Perdu in Alain Fournier’s Grand Meaulnes. I would love to go back there one day.

Hi Tracy, we all agreed that our stay at Le Favreau was just perfect – it would be very hard to improve on anything. Each room having an en-suite bathroom, the swimming pool, Pascal’s warm welcome, the well appointed kitchen and indoor and outdoor games options catered for our every need, across the generations – from 78 to 2 years old. The house felt lived in and we could relax knowing the children and the house contents were safe. Your recommendation for the bakery in Monsegur was spot on and the staff and food at La Dolce restaurant were spot on.

It was a magical stay. The house is lovely, very beautiful and the true Bordeaux experience. It is an old cottage with somewhat updated but still countryside decor. The kitchen is very well equipped and comfortable, the rooms are comfortable and the bathrooms are ok. There is a children’s area upstairs that the kids enjoyed very much and there are several activities and games for them to play. The highlight was the outside of the house, lovely backyard with a dining table and a ping pong table with darts. Everything is fenced and even more beautiful are the surroundings of the house, there is a vineyard, even apple trees and other surprises. We had an issue with the pool heating which they responded very quickly and nicely even though it was not resolved. Fyi, you have to ask beforehand for it to be heated. Thank you for a lovely stay.

We definitely loved our stay at the Favreau house. Pascal the manager greeted us upon our arrival and explained everything about the house to us. After that he was constantly available if needed be. The house was just as in the pictures. Spacious rooms from the kitchen to the bedrooms to the living room. What is truly spectacular of the house is the outdoor area and the view. It’s so quiet you can just sit outside and enjoy the beauty. There’s a few villages with small supermarket and a boulangerie and a boucherie at about 10 minutes by car from the house. The biggest supermarket was about 25 minutes. We reserved Sylvie for a meal at the house and we really liked it. We would’ve definitely have stayed another week and even though it rained almost everyday we were there we truly had a wonderful week.

A splendid house in a nature screen with a real character. The immediate environment: views of the vines and plum trees make it a haven of peace and tranquility. Very nice for the children. Perfect for 3 families, without stepping on. You have to have a car, the house is far from everything. We did not meet Tracy, but Pascal welcomed us warmly. A few small adjustments needed on arrival, we rented the house for its first week of reopening after winter. Nothing inconvenient and responsive to the owners. We recommend it!

An absolutely beautiful setting, from the long tree-lined driveway to the courtyard setting around the pool, with the owners’ large vineyard behind the house to walk around in.
The house is very comfortable and spacious, with 3 very large bedrooms and a huge attic with some 6 or so kids’ beds. The house has ‘rustic charm’, don’t expect the most updated appliances or a fully renovated house. But it has all the amenities and was perfectly clean. Highly recommended.

Favereau is a wonderful rustic property in which to spend a week. A great location to explore Duras, Bergerac, Monsegur and the surrounding countryside. The pool area is perfect for sunbathing or finding some peaceful shade. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend to others.

This is a wonderful house, perfect for a group of families. It is a beautiful old house that has been updated with modern conveniences, and the garden and pool are absolutely idyllic. Very private and quiet, but close to the village of Monsegur for all your essentials and within 30 minutes of many wonderful villages and wineries. We would definitely come again.

Such an incredible place to get carried away in and forget about time. Which is perfect Since there is not much else going on in the towns around. La Villa Favreau… Que dire! Maison très fonctionnelle et de quoi ravir tous les hôtes! De grandes chambres, de beaux espaces de vie. La cuisine est très bien équipée et ça, c’est le top. Malheureusement, la météo du week-end de la Pentecôte n’était pas avec nous, mais mention spéciale pour le «dortoir» au 1er étage où des parties de jeux de société nous ont bien occupé le temps d’une journée pluvieuse! Nous avons pu profiter du bel extérieur (piscine,barbecue…). Visite du vignoble Faurie à 1km, bel accueil de Titou. Un joli week-end entre amis, venant de La Baule, Nantes, Toulouse et Paris. On reviendra! Merci à Pascal pour l’accueil physique et à Tracy pour les échanges via Airbnb. Nous garderons un beau souvenir de la villa Favreau. The Villa Favreau … What can I say! Very functional house and something to delight all guests! Large bedrooms, beautiful living spaces. The kitchen is very well equipped and that’s the best. Unfortunately, the weather for the Pentecost weekend was not with us, but special mention for the “dormitory” on the 1st floor where board games kept us busy on a rainy day! We were able to enjoy the beautiful exterior (swimming pool, barbecue …). Visit of the Faurie vineyard at 1km, nice welcome from Titou. A nice weekend with friends, coming from La Baule, Nantes, Toulouse and Paris. We will come back! Thanks to Pascal for the physical welcome and to Tracy for the discussions via Airbnb. We will keep fond memories of Villa Favreau. During this period, called “covid”, the Villa de Dieulivol allowed us to escape for a weekend. THANK YOU. And good continuation!

We enjoyed every moment of our stay at the Villa Favereau. It’s calm, vast (the house and the property), comfortable and very tastefully furniture. The choice of activities both outdoors (pool, table tennis, various games, strolls, sunbathing, bbqing) and indoors (some books and numerous board games) is large. The position in the heart of Marmandais wine country is excellent, and the endless view of vineyards, only interrupted by grazed meadows and picturesque little hilltop towns makes for wonderful sights and strolls. The pool is large and convenient, as are the premises allowing groups to do separate activities while not bouncing into one another. Sadly some glass or fragile items were broken, for which we’ve duly paid after Tracy and Pascal messaged us with the utmost amiability and understanding. We’d love to come again. We returned to Favreau after having a lovely birthday celebration there last August. This time with children and again everyone had a wonderful time. David, Tracy, Sarah and Paul were all such help in preparation and with all the various needs of our little humans (4 of them aged from 1 to 5) the place is idyllic and such a lovely place to enjoy a fun and peaceful holiday.
