Favreau, this holiday home is set on over 10 hectares of grounds with views. A traditional French rustique farmhouse full of charm with a large private heated pool in a stunning, secluded countryside setting with views over vineyards and orchards. Perfect for large groups and families. Set at the end of its own driveway, this property is very private.
Situated between Bordeaux, Bergerac and Saint Emilion near the border of the Dordogne in the heart of the Bordeaux wine region of France, making it an ideal location to explore this beautiful unspoilt area.
Within 5-10 minutes drive of the ancient Bastide towns of Monsegur (Gironde) and Duras (Lot et Garonne), both have bars, restaurants, banks, shops and supermarkets as well as weekly farmers markets and night market in the peak summer months.
3.5km walk via country lanes to the village of Dieulivol where there is a cafe bar which serves drinks and light snacks, by special request they can create a BBQ meal for you, you can also buy ice cream or a bottle of local wine.
Daily fresh bread from the post office or from the cafe bar on Sunday’s by request. There is an ancient church with stunning views over the valley.
1.1km to the nearest vineyard with wine tasting.
1.9km to a tree adventure and climbing park, great for kids of all ages and all the family.

Bedrooms and bathrooms (accommodating a maximum of 10 guests)
Ground floor (3 spacious bedrooms)
1. Double room (King size bed) with a small en-suite shower room and WC.
2. Double room (bed 155cm wide) with en-suite bathroom with a separate walk in shower and WC.
3. Double or Twin room using zip and link beds, small en-suite shower room and WC.
There is an additional bathroom on the ground floor.
Upper floor (attic conversion with 2 bedrooms)
4. Double room (bed 140cm wide) – please note that there is restricted head height due to beams.
5. Enormous fun, children’s dormitory with 6 single beds (90cm wide each), ample space for playing with the large selection of toys and games.
Both rooms share a bathroom with wood-panelled bathroom with a bath and twin sinks and there is a separate WC on this floor between the 2 bedrooms.
The large kitchen/diner has been remodelled with high-spec solid wooden units whilst retaining the character of the house with the original floor, beamed ceiling and stunning stone fireplace. A door opens onto the garden. Facilities include: Dishwasher Microwave Large fridge freezer Range style oven/hob/grill Kettle Toaster There is also a separate utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer.
Lounge with views over the garden and pool area. Freesat TV, DVD Player and fireplace. Wood can be supplied at cost price if required.
3 cots (linen provided) and 2 high chairs are available on request.
Private pool and exterior
The 11m x 6m private, heated pool is central to the secluded garden which is flanked by 2 grand pigeonniers (not in use) whilst impressive iron gates offer a view to the adjoining vines. The pool has corner steps, a depth between 1.2 – 2m and a security alarm.

Part of a barn has been converted to a shady games area with table tennis and there is also an outside WC and shower room. Charcoal BBQ.
Bed linen, bath towels and pool towels are provided and included in the price.

Located in the heart of the Bordeaux famous wine region where there are plenty of vineyards for tastings and tours. The picturesque towns of Duras and Monsegur are a short drive to excellent dining and shopping and the local farmhouses and countryside perfect for exploring.
Coast / Beach
Aqua Park is 44km located near Bergerac. Beach, canoeing and a water park.
A freshwater lake with sandy beach at Blasimon is just 22km away and is a popular attraction to take children for a day out. The gently shelving sand provides a safe, fun environment for splashing around and cooling off in the heat of the summer sun. Blasimon lake.
The famous sandy bay at Arcachon (146km) with Europe’s tallest sand dune, Dune du Pilat. This is the start of a 150 mile long sandy beach south past Biscarosse, or while the day away meander your way around Arcachon and enjoy a relaxing lunch in one of the many French restaurants.

The local area and what to do, Monsegur / Duras, Bordeaux and the Dordogne, France
Situated near the towns of Monsegur and Duras in the region of Aquitaine within the Bordeaux wine region and on the border of the Dordogne, Gironde and Lot et Garonne, France.

Bordeaux city centre is just 68km to the west and Bergerac is 46km to the east, Saint Emilion 39km north.
This is the ideal base from which to explore South West France. Located in the region of Aquitaine on the three borders of Gironde / Dordogne / Lot et Garonne and is considered to be one of the most picturesque areas of France.
The gently rolling countryside is a pleasure to explore, with excellent roads winding their way through fields and vineyards. Perfect cycling country!
Monsegur (7km) and Duras (9km) are ancient Bastide towns set around a market square which are host to weekly markets and also a weekly night market during the peak summer season. There is a good selection of shops including cafes, bars and a pizzeria which host’s weekly live music.
There is also Cinema Eden in Monsegur, which does show international films in their original language version (VO), a selection of English speaking films with French subtitles.
The market squares are also hosts the many festivals and events throughout the year.
Vineyards and wine tasting
So many in the area, the nearest are:
1km, 3 Faurie, 33580 Dieulivol. Tasting available, the sparkling is a good option.
1.5km. Good table wine especially the red, this will be the first year for the rose, ideally by the box, buy direct only, part of the Accrobranche park.
Wine and Gastronomy
The Bordeaux wine region has 21 appellations. Visit some of the many local Caves and Chateau who offer free tastings and tours while you choose a bottle or two.
Not to be missed is the world famous Saint Emilion (39km). A designated world heritage site and is truly stunning. Explore characteristic narrow lanes lined with wine merchants, cafes, restaurants and interesting independent shops. A guided tour of the monolithic church is highly recommended.
Follow Rick Steins French Odyssey (Bordeaux to Bazas) trail across this region and encounter some of the best culinary experiences France has to offer.
This designated world heritage site is a must for all visitors. This cosmopolitan city offers a diverse range of attractions. The golden triangle has a fabulous range of shops for those shopaholics.
A rich variety of architecture forms the backdrop for the street cafes, restaurants, bars and not forgetting the superb Grand Theatre.
The Dordogne is just one of the many places to visit for day trips. Anything from Canoeing or boat trips on the Dordogne river to exploring ancient villages.

Reward yourself by feasting on fresh seafood around the Bay of Arcachon or take the ferry to Cap Ferret and feel the sand between your toes whilst you enjoy oysters and chilled white wine.

The countryside around our properties is popular for cycling, whether it’s just a gentle ride around to explore or, if you are a keen cyclist, a long training ride on fantastic stretches of road to get the blood pumping whilst taking in the fantastic views.

Carbon road bike hire in Bordeaux, they will deliver to Bordeaux train station for free, they do not deliver to your door but if you are a serious cyclists just ride the bike back to your holiday villa. Carbon road bike hire Bordeaux.
Yes we believe chocolate is also an activity… we often have to visit and make sure the quality is up to standard so we can continue to recommend this.
Maison Guinguet gourmet chocolate, they have a very nice shop to visit next to their artisan factory. 2km from Duras.
Public tennis courts
Good quality courts are located in Monsegur, Duras & St Sernin de Duras and are usually booked via the local tourist information office.
Canoeing and kayaking
Canoe hire is available on the rivers. The river Dropt winds through the valley with a slow flow on it.
The Dordogne river at Sainte Foy has a faster pace but has plenty of canoe hire opportunities and literally just go with the flow and be picked up further downstream. Of course the easiest way is a boat trip and let someone else do the work.

There are many pay and play golf courses within the area, the best being the beautiful Chateau Des Vigiers Golf and Country Club (28km). The chateau dates back to 1597 and is set in 450 acres of stunning countryside. Facilities also include a fine restaurant and relaxing beauty spa.
Most villages and towns hold weekly markets full of fresh and interesting local produce. An ideal place to pick up your holiday mementoes and gifts.
Both Monsegur and Duras also have night markets during the summer where you can eat and have a drink as well as browse the many stalls.
Duras: Every Monday from 8.30 to 14:00 (closes at 12:00 from September to June). Nice market, excellent Organic veg’s & fruit producer. Excellent organic goat cheese producers too… Foie gras, Magrets and many stands of food/non food.
Allemans du Dropt (20km): Every Sunday morning.
Sainte Foy La Grande (22km): Every Saturday from 8.30 to 12:00. Quite big market with excellent producers.
Monségur: Every Friday from 8.30 to 12. Nice small market with good fish stall and a good butcher.
Issigeac (50km): Every Sunday morning.
Eymet (30km): Every Thursday morning.
From 1st of July till End of August, very successful, where you can eat and dance, with many craft and food stands. Go early if you want to park close to the village.
Duras (9km) Night market: Every Thursday evening till end of August.
Lévignac de Guyenne (15km) Night market: Every Friday evening till end of August.
Monsegur (6km) Night market. Every Wednesday evening till mid of September.
Carrefour Contact supermarket – just out of Duras on the direction of Sainte Foy La Grande. Small but very well stocked (includes English part). Open from 8am to 8pm nonstop from Mondays to Saturdays. Sundays from 9am to 1pm.
