An ideal base from which to explore southwest France. Located in the region of Aquitaine on the 3 borders of Gironde / Dordogne / Lot et Garonne and is considered to be one of the most picturesque areas of France.

Perfect walking and cycling country, the rolling countryside is a pleasure to explore, with excellent roads winding their way through fields and vineyards.

Monsegur and Duras are ancient Bastide towns set around a market square which are host to weekly markets and also a weekly night market during the peak summer season. There is a good selection of shops, cafés, bars, restaurants and excellent boulangeries in both towns, our favourite being La Choco-Latine in Monsegur who were runners up in the French TV show “La Meilleure Boulangerie de France” in 2019.

We love the volunteer-run Cinema Eden in Monsegur, they show some international films in their original language version (VO) with French subtitles.

The market squares host a variety of festivals and events throughout the year, Monsegur hosts the famous 24 Heures de Swing in July.

Wine and Gastronomy

Vineyards are abundant in the area, visit some of the many local Chateau that offer tastings and tours.

Not to be missed is the world-famous Saint Emilion. A designated world heritage site and is truly stunning. Explore characteristic narrow lanes lined with wine merchants, cafes, restaurants, and interesting independent shops. A guided tour of the monolithic church is highly recommended.

Vineyard tours, picnics in a vineyard, and cheese and wine pairing evenings are available with a local couple, Sylvie and Pascal. Loving Aquitaine.

This designated world heritage site is a must for all visitors. This cosmopolitan city offers a diverse range of attractions. The golden triangle has a fabulous range of shops for those shopaholics.

This house is far more beautiful than what we see on the internet. The views are extraordinary, the hosts are more welcoming than any I have ever met, and location is ideal.

Steven. October 2023

Absolutely stunning location, fantastic views from the poolside and gardens- really peaceful. Sarah and Andrew were so welcoming and really helpful and went out of their way over the 2 weeks we stayed at the gite.
The place is just like home with all the things that you need – you can see attention to detail is very high. We will definitely be back

Rik. September 2023

As a family of 4 visiting France for summer, we can’t recommend Sarah’s gite highly enough. Absolutely beautiful location, vast and well-kept grounds, a lovely pool and pristine inside space. All the amenities you need for a holiday plus many extra benefits. Sarah was an extremely proactive, helpful and friendly host – no favour to big or small. We travelled with two young kids who adored their time here. The local village and town are charming with their night markets and the whole area is a stunning place to visit. We hope to visit again next summer!

Victoria. August 2023

Sarah and Andrew are incredible hosts, and I can’t recommend them and their place highly enough. Sarah and Andrew are warm, kind, very friendly, fun, and present when we needed but also mindful to give us privacy. It’s such a beautiful home, garden and pool, and they have thought of literally everything you might need to make your stay enjoyable. We truly feel they went above and beyond in every aspect of our stay, and as a family can’t wait to go back! And, the beautiful and generous welcome basket is a lovely touch as well. Thank you Sarah and Andrew, see you soon, we will be back!

Lucy. June 2023

We had a truly wonderful stay at Sarah’s place. The house is beautiful, the views are incredible, and the pool is perfect.

What really stands the Gite apart is Sarah’s attention to details – she’s thought of every little thing you could need to make you feel truly at home – fluffy towels, all the kitchen bits you could need, great tv and Wi-Fi, and the comfiest beds! They are fantastic hosts – there if you need them, but very respectful of privacy.

Great location for day trips – Bergerac etc, but Eymet and Duras are truly lovely.

Thanks again! We’ll be back!

Catriona. August 2022

Great pool, amazing hosts going the extra mile, wonderful beds, very well-equipped kitchen
In short, everything you need and more to have a good time!
The Duras castle and Griffon parc are nearby and are fun activities for the kids.
