Bordeaux city centre is 110km and Bergerac is 34km. In the region of Aquitaine within the Bordeaux wine region and on the borders of the Dordogne, Gironde and Lot et Garonne, France.
An ideal base from which to explore southwest France. Located in the region of Aquitaine on the 3 borders of Gironde / Dordogne / Lot et Garonne and is considered to be one of the most picturesque areas of France.
The region is famous for wine and wonderful gastronomy. Whether you are in St. Emilion, Pomerol, Blaye, The Médoc, Entre Deux Mers, Bourg, Graves, or Sauterne the wines of the region are without doubt some of the very best in the world! There are local producers nearby that offer excellent quality wines at very reasonable prices through to the higher end of the market.
Perfect walking and cycling country, the rolling countryside is a pleasure to explore, with excellent roads winding their way through fields and vineyards.
Eymet, Monsegur and Duras are historic towns set around market squares which are host to weekly markets and also a weekly night market during the peak summer season. There is a good selection of shops, cafés, bars, restaurants and boulangeries, our favourite being La Choco-Latine in Monsegur who were runners up in the French TV show “La Meilleure Boulangerie de France” in 2019.
We love the volunteer-run Cinema Eden in Monsegur, they often show international films in their original language version (VO) with French subtitles.

What a wonderful gite you have worked so hard to create!
We have loved being here to relax on our final holiday/ babymoon.
Thank you very much for your hospitality. The area is stunning, quiet and the local market was just perfect.
We are honoured to be the last guests of your first season and hope that you’ll fondly remember the parking incident.
We didn’t venture far, we came for a total chillout holiday. We will come back another year and explore a little. We loved the local town Miramont de Guyenne it is very charming. The market was full of lovely goodies which we enjoyed and the bakery was absolute perfection.
We’ve had a wonderful 6 days in the gite. The weather has been fabulous. Both my daughters were in need of a restful holiday so we haven’t done much but enjoy the pool and local countryside. Kim and Jules went out of their way to welcome us on our late arrival after a delayed flight.
They have been so kind to Arya (our 18 month old) buying a slide for her to enjoy the pool and even lending her their granddaughter’s wendy house – both great hits. If we’d been able to spend more time here we would have loved to do some pottery throwing with them.
Jules recommended ‘La Camelia’ near Allemans du Dropt for genuine French cuisine with no frills at a great price. We had lunch there it was thoroughly enjoyable! and cheap.
Wish we could have stayed longer. Can’t thank you enough Kim and Jules! Fab hosts!!
Kim and Jules are excellent hosts, very friendly and made us very comfortable.
The gite is well kept and is a great base for everyone wishing to explore the Dordogne region. We would recommend this gite to anyone as this gite has everything and is only made better by the local markets. We thoroughly enjoyed our time staying and couldn’t ask for better hosts.
Recommendations: Eymet, canoeing down the Dordogne, Visited Cap Ferret, Bordeaux, Duras markets, Agen, Monteton night markets, Casteljeloux aqua park and freshwater lake.
All well worth a visit!!
Thank you for having us.
A fantastic location, made very welcome by Jules and Kim – great hosts. We enjoyed our time very much and thoroughly recommend the gite to anyone wishing to use it as a base to explore the Lot-et-Garonne and further afield into the Dordogne. Lots to see and do – all within an hour to an hour and a half drive.
Accommodation is of a very high standard, set in excellent gardens with a fantastic pool.
Highlights from our stay: Eymet, Issegeac, Beaumont en Perrigord, Duras, Cadouin and Chateau Beron, Aubeterre sur Dronne. All well worth a visit, great places to eat out + pretty locations.
Thank you for a lovely stay.
Kim and Jules are great hosts, very friendly and helpful. Lovely comfortable gite and a fantastic pool to cool off in 40 degrees of heatwave!
Visited Chateuau Duras, had a splash in the Dropt with paddle boards and visited chateaux Molliere (family run vineyard). Also enjoyed Eymet market and a day trip to Bergerac.
Great restaurants, enjoyed l’Hosterie des Ducs (Duras), La Cour d’ Eymet and Walnut in Eymet.
Lots to see in the area, a week is only just enough time to pack it all in!
Thank you.
Kim and Jules are fab hosts, couldn’t have been more welcoming, wine and bread were lovely arrival gifts.
We found the gite to have everything we needed, the pool was a great hit for us and the children at all times of the day.
Local markets are well worth going to for local produce, Duras personally is the better one plus the bonus of the chateau. Eyemt is a lovely spot for an evening meal 7pm onwards.
BBQ is great, shop at Intermarche as it has the best range of everything. Nite closes at 7.30pm.
Aqua park and freshwater lake with sandy beach at Lac de Clarens at Casteljeloux a great day out, take a parasol.
Thank you for having us.
