Beautiful and spacious stone-built house with a heated salt pool, 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms, 2km from the village of St Sernin with restaurant and tennis courts, 9km from the historic town of Duras.
La Bique has been awarded a 5-star rating by Atout France for furnished holiday rentals and offers a contemporary holiday home with generous proportions throughout, luxurious bathrooms and modern conveniences including high-speed Fibre Broadband, all set in a countryside location. The vast open-plan living area is the hub of the home with pocket doors that open out onto the decked sun terrace around the pool with countryside views beyond.
The local village, St Sernin centre is 2 km away (1.2 miles), a 25-minute walk along a quiet country lane. In the village is the nearest restaurant ‘La Grange’. There is also a Tabac and public tennis courts. On certain dates in the height of summer, there is a traditional night market.
The historical town of Duras is 9km away with restaurants and shops. The famous town of Bergerac is just 35km.
A wonderful location to explore the Bordeaux / Bergerac wine regions.

Bed linen, bath towels and pool towels are provided and included in the price.
A complimentary extra supply of bed linen and bath towels will be provided for bookings of 2 weeks or more.

Mezzanine space with a desk, chair and printer. An ideal spot to work from home whilst away if you need to. High-speed Fibre Broadband indicative speeds: Download 56.87 Mb/s. Upload is 63.26 Mb/s.
Kitchen
Gas and electric hob, x2 electric ovens one also being microwave and grill. Kettle, toaster. 2 Cafetieres, Tassimo pod coffee machine. Dishwasher.
The main dining room is next to the kitchen, there is also an exterior table and chairs set just outside the dining room.
There is a gas BBQ and also a charcoal BBQ situated by the outside dining table.
Dining room
Separate dining room next to the kitchen seating 12 guests. There is an additional table and chairs in the open-plan living area, and a further dining table and chairs are outside.
Utility room
Separate utility room with a washing machine, clothes tumble dryer and a sink.
Open-plan living space
A grand open plan space which has 3 defined areas, a TV lounge area around the feature fireplace, an informal dining area and an informal chill-out seating area with a small table tennis table and views out to the terrace and pool.
The TV area has 3 sofas and a large-screen smart TV with English-speaking channels, Netflix is enabled so guests can log into their accounts to view content.
Outside and garden
A large garden set over almost 2 acres surrounds the property.
An exterior table and chairs seating 12 for alfresco dining are located just outside the kitchen along with a gas/charcoal BBQ.
Private heated saltwater swimming pool
The heated saltwater pool is 10m x 4.5m and at a depth of 1m – 1.5m (all measurements are approximate). Pool security is by way of a pool alarm.
There are 12 sun beds and some parasols for shade.
Electric car charger and private parking
The driveway entrance has electric gates and private off-road parking for several cars.
EV electric plugin facility for electric car charging is available at an additional cost of £50 per week per car, please pre-book in advance. This is a dedicated fitted car charger, please bring your own plug-in cable, type 2.

A bike hire service is provided by Bike Hire Direct who can deliver bikes to La Bique.
Private catering and gastronomic experiences can be booked through Loving Aquitaine.
A shopping service is available via the house manager at an additional charge of 20€ per hour. Please book at least 7 days in advance.

What to do in the area and beyond
There are many towns, villages and castles to explore on your doorstep. The local towns and villages host weekly markets as well as summer night markets and various festivals throughout the year. More information on what’s on locally is in the “Local Area” tab above.
The local village, St Sernin centre is 2 km away (1.2 miles), a 25-minute walk along a quiet country lane. Facilities in the village include public tennis courts, a restaurant and a Tabac. A fortnightly night market in July and August.

Pool heating is included in the price. Please note that specific temperatures can’t be guaranteed as pool heating is influenced by weather conditions and other factors.

La Bique, our tips on what to do in Monsegur, Duras, Bordeaux, Bergerac and the Dordogne region.
La Bique is located 2km from the village of St Sernin with restaurant and tennis courts, 9km from the historical town of Duras.
Situated near the towns of Duras 7km (Lot et Garonne), Monsegur 6km (Gironde), Sainte-Foy-La-Grande 25km, in the region of Aquitaine within the Bordeaux wine region and on the borders of the Dordogne, Gironde and Lot et Garonne, France.
Bordeaux city centre is an 84km drive to the west. Bergerac is 33km to the east and Saint Émilion 50km northwest.
An ideal base from which to explore southwest France. Located in the region of Aquitaine on the 3 borders of Gironde / Dordogne / Lot et Garonne and is considered to be one of the most picturesque areas of France.
The region is famous for wine and wonderful gastronomy. Whether you are in St. Emilion, Pomerol, Blaye, The Médoc, Entre Deux Mers, Bourg, Graves, or Sauterne the wines of the region are without doubt some of the very best in the world! There are local producers nearby that offer excellent quality wines at very reasonable prices through to the higher end of the market.
Perfect walking and cycling country, the rolling countryside is a pleasure to explore, with excellent roads winding their way through fields and vineyards.
Monsegur and Duras are ancient Bastide towns set around a market square which are host to weekly markets and also a weekly night market during the peak summer season. There is a good selection of shops, cafés, bars, restaurants and excellent boulangeries in both towns, our favourite being La Choco-Latine in Monsegur who were runners up in the French TV show “La Meilleure Boulangerie de France” in 2019.
We love the volunteer-run Cinema Eden in Monsegur, they show some international films in their original language version (VO) with French subtitles.
The market squares host a variety of festivals and events throughout the year, Monsegur hosts the famous 24 Heures de Swing at the beginning of July.
Wine and Gastronomy
Vineyards are abundant in the area.
The Bordeaux wine region has 21 appellations. Visit some of the many local Chateau that offers free tastings and tours while you choose a bottle or two.
Not to be missed is the world-famous Saint Emilion. A designated world heritage site and is truly stunning. Explore characteristic narrow lanes lined with wine merchants, cafes, restaurants and interesting independent shops. A guided tour of the monolithic church is highly recommended.
Vineyard tours, picnic in a vineyard, cheese and wine pairing evenings are available with a local couple, Sylvie and Pascal. Loving Aquitaine.
Bordeaux
This designated world heritage site is a must for all visitors. This cosmopolitan city offers a diverse range of attractions. The golden triangle has a fabulous range of shops for those shopaholics.
A rich variety of architecture forms the backdrop for the street cafes, restaurants, bars and not forgetting the superb Grand Theatre.
Dordogne
The Dordogne is just one of the many places to visit for day trips. Anything from canoeing or boat trips on the Dordogne river at Bergerac to exploring the wonderful and pretty ancient villages.
Activities
Coast, Beach and Water park
A freshwater lake with a sandy beach at Blasimon is just 38km away and is a popular attraction to take children for a day out. The gently shelving sand provides a fun environment for splashing around and cooling off in the heat of the summer sun. Blasimon lake.
Aqua Park is 28km located near Bergerac. Beach, canoeing and a water park.
Aqua Fun Park near Casteljaloux is 59km. Park with a huge freshwater lake, picnic benches, walks, facilities, man-made sandy beach, water sports, and kid’s play area…. great for adults also.
Visit Europe’s largest sand dune 160km, the Dune du Pilat where both the climb and the views will take your breath away! Reward yourself with fresh seafood from the Bay of Arcachon or take the ferry to Cap Ferret and feel the sand between your toes whilst you enjoy oysters and chilled white wine.
Chocolate
Yes, we believe chocolate is also an activity, we often have to visit to make sure the quality is up to standard… Maison Guinguet 11km, near Duras. A nice shop to visit, selling chocolate, gifts and offers guided visits to their artisan factory in July and August.
Duras Castle
The famous Chateau de Duras, 9km away. It’s well worth a visit, climb to the top and see the stunning 360-degree vista.
Tea room with gardens
Jardin de Boissona, six small gardens, each with its own character. Outside and inside seating. Known for their teas and delicious cakes. 12km.
Zip wire adventure and climbing park
16km. Playground and snack bar. Des chênes toi Aventure.
Boat trips
Dordogne river trips are available on traditional boats in Bergerac with Les Gabarres de Bergerac. 32km.
Cycling and bike hire
The French countryside around this property is perfect for cycling whether it’s just a gentle ride around to explore or if you are a keen cyclist, a long training ride on fantastic stretches of road to get the blood pumping whilst taking in the fantastic views.
Maybe cycle to a cafe bar for a cold glass of something local or the chocolate shop!

Electric / standard bicycle hire from Eymet (14km) cycle hire
Carbon road bike hire is available, collected from Bordeaux train station and you can ride back to your holiday villa using part of the old railway line (Roger Lapebie) which is now dedicated to cycling and walking.
Public tennis courts
Tennis courts are located in Monsegur, Saint-Vivien-de-Monségur, Duras and St Sernin de Duras they are usually booked via the tourist information office, the nearest is 2km away at St Sernin.
Canoeing and kayaking
Canoe hire is available on the rivers. The river Dropt winds through the valley with a slow flow on it, whilst the Dordogne river at Sainte Foy La Grande has a faster pace and has plenty of canoe hire opportunities.

Golf
There are pay and play golf courses within the area, the best being the beautiful Chateau Des Vigiers Golf and Country Club 16km. The chateau dates back to 1597 and is set in 450 acres of stunning countryside. Facilities also include a fine restaurant and a relaxing beauty spa. Local markets and supermarkets
Markets
Most villages and towns hold weekly markets full of fresh and interesting local produce. An ideal place to pick up your holiday mementoes and gifts too.
Duras (9km): Every Monday from 8.30 to 14:00 (closes at 12:00 from September to June). Nice market with excellent organic fruit and veg, organic goats cheese, foie gras and a selection of other stalls.
Sainte Foy La Grande (20km): Every Saturday from 8.30 to 12:00. Big market with excellent producers and winner of “Favourite French Market” in 2014.
Monségur (18km): Every Friday from 8.30 to 12. Is a nice small market with a particularly good fish stall.
Issigeac (35km): Every Sunday morning. Extremely popular. Top tip – arrive early!
Eymet (14km): Every Thursday morning. Medieval town.
Summer night markets
Both Monsegur and Duras also have vibrant night markets during the peak summer months grab a bite to eat from one of the stalls and enjoy your food with a drink at one of the bars. There’s usually musical entertainment which creates a lively atmosphere.

Fantastic, unusually hot weather-beautiful, so we used the pool a lot. Andrew was efficient and very helpful, so thank you to him. Being just the 2 of us we did rattle around a bit in this huge house but we enjoyed ourselves.

Super St Sernin
Lovely property with great pool, sitting room next to pool, dining room and outside eating area. Room around property to play games like boules and frisbee golf. Beautiful area of France near property consisting of rolling hills and vineyards. Recommend e-bike for cycling. Good local restaurant.
La Bique provided us the most perfect Easter getaway for our family of twelve. The house was impeccable and provided us with all we needed.
