La Vallon is a stylish 4-star Dordogne holiday cottage for up to 6 guests, set on a peaceful hilltop in the heart of the Dordogne’s Golden Triangle, with a shared heated 16m x 4m saltwater pool, waterfall, large sun terrace and high-speed Wi-Fi.
Just minutes from Sarlat-la-Canéda, Beynac, La Roque-Gageac and Château des Milandes, La Vallon combines a peaceful countryside setting with easy access to some of the Dordogne’s best-known villages and attractions. Shops, restaurants and a boulangerie are just 3 km away in Castelnaud-la-Chapelle.
La Vallon is a beautifully renovated three-bedroom, two-bathroom cottage sleeping up to 6 guests. Light-filled interiors, elegant furnishings, artwork and beautiful countryside views create a calm and welcoming atmosphere throughout.

Bedroom 1
Ground-floor bedroom with a king-size zip-and-link bed (180 cm x 200 cm), which can be arranged as twin beds.
Private en-suite bathroom with bath, twin washbasins and WC. The washing machine is also located here.

Upper-floor double bedroom with a bed measuring 180 cm x 200 cm, exposed beams and a fan.
Shares a shower room with Bedroom 3.

Upper-floor double bedroom with a bed measuring 180 cm x 200 cm, exposed beams and a fan.

Situated between Bedrooms 2 and 3, with a walk-in shower, washbasin and WC.
Baby and child facilities
1 high chair is available.
A travel cot with mattress and bedding can be provided on request.
Children’s cutlery, plates, bowls and games are also provided.
Please note that there are no stair gates.
Cleaning, towels and linen
Bed linen, bath towels and pool towels are provided and are made from Egyptian cotton.
Fresh bed linen and towels are supplied weekly for stays of 7 nights or more.
Living, kitchen and dining
La Vallon has a bright open-plan living, kitchen and dining area of more than 40m², decorated in soft, earthy tones with colourful artwork.

Comfortable sofa and armchairs, Smart TV and high-speed Wi-Fi.
Kitchen
The kitchen includes a fridge/freezer, 3-burner hob, oven, air fryer, Nespresso coffee machine, Magimix, dishwasher, toaster and kettle.
Crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils, dishwasher tablets, washing-up liquid, detergents, bin bags, toilet paper and cleaning products are provided.
There is also an iron, ironing board, vacuum cleaner and hairdryer.
A first-aid kit, fire blanket, smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarm are provided.
Dining
Indoor dining table seating 6 guests, with a further shaded dining area outside on the terrace.
Outdoor living
Glass doors open onto an elevated private terrace with beautiful views across the swimming pool, woodland and rolling valley.
The shaded terrace provides a peaceful setting for breakfast, long lunches and evening meals.
Shared heated swimming pool
La Vallon shares a heated 16m x 4m saltwater swimming pool with its sister cottage, La Prairie.
The pool has an extra-shallow area, cascading waterfall and a large 400m² sun terrace with 10 sun loungers, 5 parasols and an outdoor shower.
The pool is protected by an alarm and is maintained and cleaned daily.
The pool is open from May to September. Pool towels are provided and Wi-Fi is available around the pool area.
Stargazing
Guests have complimentary use of a high-quality telescope with smart app integration for a mobile phone.
The peaceful Dordogne countryside offers wonderfully clear night skies and excellent opportunities for stargazing.
Parking
Private off-road parking is available.
Please note that there is no electric vehicle charging facility.
Dog friendly
A maximum of 1 small dog is considered on request at a charge of £50 per booking, together with an additional £250 security bond.
Dogs must be friendly with other dogs, as the owners, Natasha and Tony, have a small dog of their own.

Your hosts, Tony and Natasha, live discreetly on-site and welcome guests to their Dordogne holiday cottages, featured on Channel 4’s A New Life in the Sun (2026).
They are happy to help while respecting guests’ privacy and offer a personalised concierge service, including local recommendations and assistance with reservations.
Summer availability
La Vallon and its sister cottage, La Prairie, are not available to rent individually from 4 July to 4 September 2026.
During this period, the properties are available only as a combined booking through La Trilogie.

A 25% deposit secures a reservation, with the balance payable 8 weeks before rental commencement.
A £300 security bond is pre-authorised against a credit card 7–10 days before arrival and released after departure, subject to a satisfactory inspection.

The pool is open from May until September.
The pool is heated, but specific water temperatures cannot be guaranteed, as pool heating is influenced by weather conditions and other factors.

What to do locally near Sarlat in the Dordogne’s Golden Triangle
The nearest shops, restaurants and boulangerie are just 3 km away in Castelnaud-la-Chapelle.
Castelnaud-la-Chapelle is one of the picturesque villages of the Périgord Noir within the Dordogne’s famous ‘Golden Triangle’. This beautiful part of South West France is sometimes known as the ‘Land of 1,001 Castles’, with historic villages, châteaux, markets, prehistoric caves and wonderful countryside all within easy reach.
La Prairie is set in a quiet hamlet close to the Dordogne and Céou rivers, between the impressive Château de Castelnaud and Château de Lacoste. It is an excellent base for discovering the Dordogne, whether you enjoy castles, vineyards, traditional markets, prehistoric sites, canoeing, cycling, truffle hunting or simply exploring the countryside.
The Dordogne River
The Dordogne and smaller Céou rivers meet at Castelnaud, providing beautiful scenery and opportunities for summer swimming and canoeing.
Canoes can be hired locally, with routes suitable for different abilities and journey lengths. Many routes allow you to stop for a riverside picnic before being collected and returned to your starting point.
One particularly scenic journey is from Vitrac to Beynac, passing attractive villages, dramatic river landscapes and magnificent châteaux along the way.
Sarlat-la-Canéda
Sarlat-la-Canéda is one of the best-known medieval towns in the Dordogne Valley, with honey-coloured stone buildings, cobbled streets and beautifully preserved architecture.
The town is particularly famous for its markets and regional food, including truffles, foie gras and other Périgord specialities. Sarlat also hosts a variety of festivals and events throughout the year, including its Truffle Festival, Fête de l’Oie and film festival.
Its historic centre has an excellent selection of cafés, wine bars, shops and restaurants.
Château des Milandes
Approximately 5 km from La Prairie, Château des Milandes is an elegant 15th-century château once home to Josephine Baker.
As well as the château itself, visitors can explore its beautiful gardens and enjoy the popular birds-of-prey displays.
Château de Beynac
Approximately 8 km from La Prairie, Château de Beynac rises dramatically above the Dordogne Valley and is one of the area’s most impressive medieval fortresses.
Its commanding position provides spectacular views across the surrounding countryside, while the château’s long history offers a fascinating glimpse into medieval life in the Dordogne.
The château and surrounding landscape have also been used as a setting for films, including Luc Besson’s Joan of Arc.
La Roque-Gageac
Approximately 9 km from La Prairie, La Roque-Gageac is one of the Dordogne’s most picturesque villages.
Set between a limestone cliff and the Dordogne River, the village is known for its narrow streets, honey-coloured stone buildings and unusual exotic garden.
More than 150 varieties of tropical and Mediterranean plants grow here, helped by the village’s sheltered position beneath the cliff.
Domme
Approximately 13 km from La Prairie, the fortified hilltop town of Domme stands around 150 metres above the Dordogne River.
The town offers superb panoramic views across the valley and is recognised as one of France’s most beautiful villages.
Beneath the main square are the Grottes de Domme, caves which add another fascinating dimension to a visit to this historic bastide town.
The Marqueyssac Gardens
The Jardins de Marqueyssac are among the best-known gardens in the Dordogne and enjoy a spectacular clifftop position overlooking the valley.
Visitors can wander through paths lined by thousands of hand-pruned box trees, landscaped gardens and viewpoints overlooking the Dordogne.
During the summer, special evening openings illuminate the gardens with thousands of candles, accompanied by live music and entertainment.
Markets
Exploring the local markets is one of the pleasures of staying in the Dordogne.
Sarlat has markets on Wednesday and Saturday mornings, while Saint-Cyprien hosts its popular Sunday market. Cénac-et-Saint-Julien also has a market on Tuesdays.
Winter brings specialist truffle markets, while during summer many towns and villages host evening food markets where visitors can buy local dishes and eat together at communal tables in the town squares.
Grottes de Domme
The Grottes de Domme are situated beneath the centre of the fortified town.
The underground caves contain impressive natural formations, while the exit from the caves provides beautiful views across the Dordogne Valley.
Lascaux
The famous Lascaux Cave near Montignac was discovered in 1940 and became internationally renowned for its extraordinary prehistoric paintings.
The original cave was closed to visitors in 1963 to protect the artwork, but visitors can now discover the story and prehistoric art of Lascaux through the purpose-built visitor experience at Montignac.
Réserve Zoologique de Calviac
Approximately 10 km from Sarlat, the Réserve Zoologique de Calviac is set on a wooded hillside and is home to around 200 animals representing approximately 30 species.
The reserve is divided into geographical regions including Europe, the Mediterranean, Oceania, South America and Madagascar.
A walking trail leads through the reserve, with opportunities to see unusual species including squirrel monkeys, fossas, lemurs and wallabies. Scheduled feeding sessions and walk-through enclosures provide additional interest for visitors of all ages.

Natasha and Tony are gracious hosts at one the loveliest and peaceful lodgings of my two week 1000+km driving tour of South Western France. La Trilogie is nestled in verdant hills overlooking the most beautiful natural and historical settings in all of France. Though it is located in a hamlet enclave that feels worlds away, it is so conveniently located to access many chateaux, stunning river drives with views of the “falaises” – the ancient cliffs, and numerous restaurants found in charming villages that won’t disappoint! All within a 10 to 20 minute drive. This is a place that you will want to return to again and again!

What a delight! The two bedroom cottage was very spacious and comfortable – actually seemed bigger than the photos depict. Our hosts couldn’t have been more welcoming and supportive and had a genuine interest in making our stay as enjoyable as possible, from recommendations and help with reservations at wonderful local restaurants, to suggestions for local sites to visit, to making sure we were comfortable when we experienced some inclement weather. We would love to return and highly recommend this unique property to anyone planning to spend time touring the gorgeous Dordogne area.

An idyllic place surrounded by lush, beautiful surroundings, where serenity reigns supreme.
The cottage is very well-appointed and luxurious, with functional amenities and refined comfort.
The pool, which we can enjoy at any time, is simply the perfect place to relax and unwind.
We had two wonderful weeks and plan to return.
In addition, Natasha and Tony are very welcoming and warm, extremely friendly, and available at all times.

We had the most wonderful ‘family and friends ‘gathering at La Trilogie. Tony and Natasha were the most wonderful hosts and nothing was too much trouble. They told us of markets, restaurants, gardens and vineyards… all were wonderful. The houses are spacious and well equipped the grounds and gardens perfect and the salt water pool, bliss. We had children and tiny grandchildren with us and it was the perfect base to explore the wonderful villages such as Sarlat with its night market and Domme . We went canoeing and swam in the river, visited nearby chateau’s and ended our week at a wonderful Bricante taking a few French antiques home…
Altogether a fabulous week I only wish we had stayed longer ! We look forward to returning to this very special place with wonderful hosts who were so kind and helpful.

WOW! If you truly want to leave the stresses of the world behind you I can’t recommend La Trilogie highly enough. Travel back in time to a slower pace of life. Experience the stillness and quiet of the beautiful grounds and woodlands and at night, watch the universe sparkle high above you in skies unspoilt by any light pollution ~ incredible! Tony and Natasha are the perfect hosts, always on hand for advice and recommendations, but not at all intrusive. They are perfectly integrated into the local community and so their knowledge of the area is second to none. We can’t wait to return. It’s almost medicinal ~ you literally feel yourself slowing down and relaxing into a way of life that’s hugely beneficial on every level. The accommodation is faultless. Immaculately clean and decorated in a perfect blend of traditional with modern accents. Once you’ve experienced this level of peace and tranquility, you’ll want more of it!
