Le Galice offers two well-appointed holiday homes with a shared heated swimming pool in a beautiful countryside setting, just 6km from Duras. Accommodating up to 12 guests over 6 bedrooms.
A relaxing, peaceful location with lovely rural views, the grounds surround the properties with walks around the garden and the lake.
The pool is shared with the welcoming and discreet owners, Catherine and Laurent, who live on-site with their lovely collection of animals, including Jango, their friendly Collie dog, a cat, chickens and goats. Catherine and Laurent are on hand to assist if required during your stay and are very respectful of guests’ privacy.
Le Galice comprises two neighbouring gites, Grand Galice and Petit Galice, both renovated farmhouses offering modern accommodation whilst retaining the charm of the original buildings.

Bedroom 3: Twin room (each bed 90cm wide) with a mezzanine level which has a double bed (140cm wide) and a room fan. Electric radiator.
Bedrooms 2 and 3 share a spacious bathroom with a walk-in shower, washbasin, and WC.
Kitchen/diner
Bright and airy kitchen-diner with a large dining table.
Single oven, 4-ring halogen hob, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster, Cafetiere, Krups Dolce Gusto coffee machine and a washing machine.
Living room
Spacious living room with an L-shaped sofa, 2 armchairs, and a TV with TNT Satellite TV, including French and some English channels. A wood-burning stove and wooden beamed ceiling give the room a cosy feel in the cooler months.
Outside space
An interior courtyard provides a private place to relax outside. There is also a covered terrace at the rear of the property, with a dining table and chairs, offering wonderful views over the grounds.

Outside space
A covered terrace at the front of the property, with a dining table and chairs, offers wonderful views over the grounds and is lovely for alfresco dining.
Childrens Facilities
2 cots and 1 high chair can be provided upon request. Please provide your own bed linen for the cots. There are no stair gates as there are only a few steps around the property, except those to the mezzanine area in bedroom 3.
Wi-Fi
Complimentary Wi-Fi is provided. The average download speed is 30 Mbps, and the average upload speed is 6 Mbps. This is a rural location, and speeds may vary.
Cleaning/towels/linen
Bed linen and bath towels are provided and are included in the price. Pool towels are available on request.
Garden and lake
The grounds surround the property with beautiful, unspoilt views.
A pleasant walk takes you down to the lake, hidden in the woods, with seating areas to watch the wildlife. If you are still and very quiet, you might be lucky and see deer. The lake has many fish species for fishing.
A purpose-made boules court is good fun for adults and children.
Heated swimming pool & hot tub
The 11m x 5m heated chlorine pool is shared with the owners. A straw hut and parasols provide shelter from the summer sun.
The pool is open and heated from 1st May to 30th September.

The hot tub accommodates up to 4 people and is open year-round except in July & August, it’s just too warm this time of year.
Pool towels are available on request.
Games/entertainment barn
The barn is a great place for everyone to gather together and has plenty of seating for dining, as well as table tennis and table football. It can also be used as an entertaining space for private gatherings.
Dog friendly
A maximum of 2 dogs is considered on request at an extra charge of 50€ per dog, plus an additional 250€ security bond.
Dogs are not permitted in the bedrooms, on soft furnishings or in the pool, and you must clean up after your dog.

What to do in the area and beyond
Situated near the towns of Duras (6km) and Monsegur (15km) in the region of Aquitaine within the Bordeaux wine region and on the border of the Dordogne, Gironde and Lot et Garonne.
These picturesque bastide towns are home to weekly traditional French markets where villagers shop for local produce, meet friends, enjoy a coffee and croissant, and watch the world go by. A popular night market is also held each week during the summer months, where street food and entertainment are the backdrop for the evening. Each town offers a good selection of restaurants, cafés, bars, pharmacies and banks, as well as the all-important boulangerie for fresh croissants, crusty bread, handmade chocolates and gifts.
A comprehensive Carrefour supermarket and petrol station can be found at Duras (6km) or Monsegur (15km). Larger hypermarkets are available in Sainte-Foy-la-Grande, 18km away.

A 25% deposit secures a reservation with the balance payable 8 weeks before rental commencement.
A security bond of 1000 € is pre-authorised against a credit card 7 – 10 days before arrival and will be cancelled subject to satisfactory inspection after departure.
An extra security bond of 250 € applies to bookings with pets.

Everything about Galice was perfect; the two houses together suited us all perfectly for my 70th celebrations! Laurent & Catherine were charming and they did everything to make our visit a success. The houses are well equipped and tastefully furnished – much of it Laurent’s own work. the games room was an unexpected bonus. The pool, with its shallow step, was perfect for the grandchildren learning to swim. Laurent maintained and cleaned the pool regularly. The walk around the lake, the boulodrome and the trampoline all had good use and the owners’ house is far enough away so that none of our activities seemed to disturb them. For those wanting an early morning walk or even a run the little roads around suited the energetic ones in our family. We made the most of the fete in Duras and Catherine was kind enough to advise us on suitable activities and outings for the grandchildren. We will be returning very soon.
Galice was a little corner of paradise. The pictures do not do it justice. Catherine and Laurent were delightful and so very helpful. The gite is perfectly equipped and perfectly finished. Ideally located to explore the amazing countryside. Lots for families to see and explore. The pool is amazing and the barn is a great addition for keeping everyone entertained. We really enjoyed our stay.
