Originally a charming stone barn, Le Rieutord has been totally renovated to become an attractive, well presented holiday villa with five bedrooms and four bath/shower rooms. Near Bordeaux, Bergerac, Saint Emilion and the Dordogne in south west France.
Accommodates a maximum of 10 guests plus 1 baby in a cot.
Le Rieutord is situated near the town of Allemans du Dropt (2km), a pretty village situated by the River Dropt which offers canoeing in the summer months, weekly market, butchers, bar and a restaurant. an ideal location to explore this beautiful region of south west France.
The front door leads to a large hallway with large fitted unit with shelves and a hanging rail.
Kitchen/Dining Room: Well equipped large open plan room with fitted kitchen, breakfast bar with stools, electric oven, gas hob, dishwasher, fridge, separate freezer, microwave, toaster, coffee machine & food mixer/blender. Dining area with table for 10 guests. Seating area with sofa, coffee table & bar.
Separate laundry room with washing machine, tumble dryer, large fridge/freezer, tumble drier, airer and iron and ironing board.
Sitting room with fireplace, satellite TV, DVD and video. A door leads to the outside dining terrace.
Off the hall is a w.c. as well as a separate shower room also with w.c. Both of these facilities are conveniently near to the pool and grounds.

Babies & toddlers:
The house is equipped with child stair gates, a cot with bedding and a highchair. Baby bath, baby monitor, baby bottle steriliser and warmer.
At Le Rieutord guests can enjoy one hectare of grounds overlooking farmland and woods. Off the ground floor living areas there is an outside dining terrace with wooden dining table and chairs. An electric awning provides shade when required. Next to the dining terrace is a private 9m x 4.5m swimming pool with corner steps and an electric security cover. The depth of the pool is 0.90-1.70m. Sunbathing terrace next to the pool. The pool is normally open from April to October. Sun loungers are provided and the garden is fenced.
Beyond the house and pool, is a private hard surface all-weather tennis court. A few racquets and balls are provided for guests, but it is recommended that clients bring their own equipment if you are a serious tennis player. At the front of the house there is an excellent area for playing boules.
There is parking for several cars.

Located in the heart of the Bordeaux famous wine region where there are plenty of vineyards for tastings and tours. The picturesque towns of Duras and Monsegur are a short drive to excellent dining and shopping and the local farmhouses and countryside perfect for exploring.
Coast / Beach
A fresh water lake with sandy beach at Blasimon is just 22km away and is a popular attraction to take children for a day out. The gently shelving sand provides a safe, fun environment for splashing around and cooling off in the heat of the summer sun. Blasimon lake.
The famous sandy bay at Arcachon (146km) with Europes tallest sand dune, Dune du Pilat. This is the start of a 150 mile long sandy beach south past Biscarosse, or while the day away meander your way around Arcachon and enjoy a relaxing lunch in one of the many French restaurants.

The local area and what to do, Monsegur / Duras / Allemans du Dropt, Bordeaux and the Dordogne, France
Le Rieutord is situated near the towns of Allemans du Dropt (2km) Monsegur (18km) and Duras (9km) in the region of Aquitaine within the Bordeaux wine region and on the borders of the Dordogne, Gironde and Lot et Garonne, France.
Bordeaux city centre is a 100km drive to the west and Bergerac is 36km to the north east, Saint Émilion 53km north west.
This is the ideal base from which to explore South West France. Located in the region of Aquitaine on the 3 borders of Gironde / Dordogne / Lot et Garonne and is considered to be one of the most picturesque areas of France.
This region is famous for its wines and wonderful gastronomy. Whether you are in St. Emilion, Pomerol, Blaye, The Médoc, Entre Deux Mers, Bourg, Graves or Sauterne the wines of the region are without doubt some of the very best in the world!
There are local producers near this holiday home that offer very good quality produce at a very reasonable price.
The gently rolling countryside is a pleasure to explore, with excellent roads winding their way through fields and vineyards. Perfect cycling country!
Monsegur and Duras are ancient Bastide towns set around a market square which are host to weekly markets and also a weekly night market during the peak summer season. There is a good selection of shops including cafes, bars and a pizzeria which host’s weekly live music.
There is also Cinema Eden in Monsegur, which does show international films in their original language version (VO), a selection of English speaking films with French subtitles.
The market squares are also hosts the many festivals and events throughout the year.
Wine and Gastronomy

The Bordeaux wine region has 21 appellations. Visit some of the many local Caves and Chateau who offer free tastings and tours while you choose a bottle or two.
Not to be missed is the world famous St Emilion. A designated world heritage site and is truly stunning. Explore characteristic narrow lanes lined with wine merchants, cafes, restaurants and interesting independent shops. A guided tour of the monolithic church is highly recommended.

This designated world heritage site is a must for all visitors. This cosmopolitan city offers a diverse range of attractions. The golden triangle has a fabulous range of shops for those shopaholics.
A rich variety of architecture forms the backdrop for the street cafe’s, restaurants, bars and not forgetting the superb Grand Theatre.

Yes we believe chocolate is also an activity… we often have to visit and make sure the quality is up to standard so we can continue to recommend this.
Maison Guinguet gourmet chocolate, they have a very nice shop to visit next to their artisan factory. 2km from Duras.
Public tennis courts
Good quality courts are located in Monsegur, Duras & St Sernin de Duras and are usually booked via the local tourist information office.
Canoeing and kayaking
Canoe hire is available on the rivers. The river Dropt winds through the valley with a slow flow on it.
The Dordogne river at Sainte Foy has a faster pace but has plenty of canoe hire opportunities and literally just go with the flow and be picked up further down stream. Of course the easiest way is a boat trip and let some one else do the work.

There are many pay and play golf courses within the area, the best being the beautiful Chateau Des Vigiers Golf and Country Club 24km. The chateau dates back to 1597 and is set in 450 acres of stunning countryside. Facilities also include a fine restaurant and relaxing beauty spa. Most villages and towns hold weekly markets full of fresh and interesting local produce. An ideal place to pick up your holiday mementoes and gifts.
Both Monsegur and Duras also have night markets during the summer where you can eat and have a drink as well as browse the many stalls.
Duras: Every Monday from 8.30 to 14:00 (closes at 12:00 from September to June). Nice market, excellent Organic veg’s & fruit producer. Excellent organic goat cheese producers too… Foie gras, Magrets and many stands of food/non food.
Allemans du Dropt (2.5km): Every Sunday morning.
Sainte Foy La Grande (28km): Every Saturday from 8.30 to 12:00. Quite big market with excellent producers.
Monségur: Every Friday from 8.30 to 12. Nice small market with good fish stand and butcher.
Issigeac (33km): Every Sunday morning.
Eymet (12km): Every Thursday morning.
From 1st of July till End of August, very successful, where you can eat and dance, with many craft and food stands. Go early if you want to park close to the village.
Duras (9km) Night market: Every Thursday evening till end of August.
Lévignac de Guyenne (17km) Night market: Every Friday evening till end of August.
Monsegur (18km) Night market. Every Wednesday evening till mid of September.
