We have had a fabulous time at Villa Alouette. The house itself is beautiful, just as advertised but in reality far much better and exceeded our expectations. We have spend mots days by the pool and in the pool, having experienced great weather, taking full advantage of the equipment and facilities available to us at the Villa. The surroundings and grounds are stunning providing us a relaxing and peaceful . We are very sad to be leaving after a very memorable and enjoyable holiday. We will definitely looking to book an other holiday here as soon as we can.

The T. Family, UK. September 2023

We already came a few years ago. Nothing much has changed within this walls, around Duras or within France.Frédéric as helpful as ever. The perennial aide. We look forward to each visit, availability ( this villa and ours ) depending. Thanks as ever for enabling our visit and to the dedicated team who prepare and clean in preparation. Much appreciated.

The B. Party, UK. September 2023

My wife and I, along with our eldest granddaughter, spent a truly memorable week at Maison Baleyssagues. For an introduction to the region of unspoilt bastide towns of upper Lot-et Garonne, eastern Gironde and Dordogne, Villa Alouette provides a superb base. It commands a beautiful panoramic view of the open countryside in all directions, which includes the extraordinary Château de Duras, itself an unmissable example of national, regional and local dedication to conservation of cultural heritage. Celebrated names like Saint Emilion, Bergerac, Sarlat-la-Canéda and Bordeaux, itself, also feature in a list of must-see’s offering a variety of attractions for every taste – and all within manageable reach.
(Speaking of taste, do not miss le Pain de maïs at the boulangerie in Duras. It is to die for, easy to cut into toast-able slices and retains its moistness for a week.) (Frederic will vouch for this.)
We cannot praise the villa without including its Property Manager, Frederic Guiraud, most welcoming and helpful, and always available at request on short notice. His welcome pack is the most thoughtful and generous we have ever encountered over many years of villa rentals in France. He has managed to compile a bound guide book featuring excellent introductions and practical visitor information on a multitude of towns and notable sites throughout the region. It obviously reflects considerable work and must be the most comprehensive visitor guide we have experienced anywhere.
As for the villa, itself, it does justice to all the pictures you will have seen in the property listing. We found it impeccably clean and in excellent repair. We thoroughly enjoyed eating outside on the terraces, luxuriating and playing in and by the pool and feasting on the views, especially in the evenings after a busy day of touring. The beautifully tuned piano must also be mentioned for those who enjoy playing on a fine instrument or just gently tinkling for leisurely entertainment.

The K. Family, UK. September 2023

We have been holidaying in this area from over 30 years and without doubt, this is one of the most special places we have stayed in.
We plan to return next summer !

The K. Family, UK. July 2023

We can honestly say that Villa Alouette is the best property that we have stayed in in France. The photographs on the website do not really do the house justice. It is located in a wonderful elevated position, with spectacular views of the surrounding countryside.
The house is equipped to a very high standard with an abundance of crockery and cutlery. There were so many lovely touches, with fresh flower arrangements in several rooms and the best welcome pack we have ever had in our seven years of visiting France.
Thanks Frédéric for welcoming us to the Villa and looking after us during our stay. Can you pass on our thanks to the owners for allowing us to stay in their lovely home.

The A. Family, UK. May 2023

We are returning guest since now more than 5 years. We love Villa Alouette and Frédéric !
We love everything in the house and all the different changes/improvement in the house due to new ownership. Pool remain the same with its impressive shape !
The only negative point is that the house is rapidly fully booked !!!

The S. family, UK. April 2023

As regular visitors we choose this area for over 30 years. This is without doubt the loveliest property we we ever had. The location and settings are glorious. We loved to sat in every places of the garden and at different times of the day. Loved the relaxing and beautiful pool area enjoyed the tasteful but functional rooms and cooked every night in this well appointed kitchen. All the small touches and details show great level of consideration from the owners. Thank you so much Frederick has been welcoming and helpful it was lovely to come back and we hope to return at least once next year.

Tim and Joana UK. September 2022

This is a lovely villa. Probably one of the best appointed in which we have ever stayed.
The pool and outdoor areas are just delightful. Our 2 1/2 year old granddaughter enjoyed picking up wonderful plums and playing with the games and toys in the little library.
Adults enjoyed the beautiful view end is sunsets.
How peaceful our surroundings where especially when we are used to the traffic noise of city ! Special thanks to Frederick who helped us where we had a little medical emergency.

The A. Family Edinburgh, UK. September 2022

This was our sixth visit to Villa Alouette – it really is a perfect place to stay! The villa was as comfortable and elegant as always with lots of stylish new touches that we enjoyed. There’s everything a family can possibly need from games and books to a wonderful new kitchen to fantastic grounds to walk and play in. The pool in particular was well used as it was so hot during our visit. It’s a lovely place to swim and relax. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and offers lots of fun and interesting places to visit with some great restaurants nearby. Particular favourites to eat for us are La Terrasse in Duras and Restaurant Italian Des Arcades in Eymet. The night market in Duras is also well worth a visit to try local wines and food. This was our sixth visit to the villa but it won’t be our last!

Peter and Claire, Hertfordshire, UK. September 2022

Villa Alouette is lovely. It’s as nice as the photos , the beds are super comfortable , the kitchen very well equipped and the pool area and outside terraces are charming , one with wonderful views and sunsets . The most enjoyable part of France .
The most enjoyable stay in “luxe” villa.

A fantastic week at the villa. We were lucky enough to get a last minute booking when travel restrictions were listed. We were slightly anxious about travelling in this times but always felt safe and welcomed be the locals. We’re so pleased we did came !
The villa is very well equipped and Frederic was so informative and helpful.
The massive selling point for us was the gorgeous pool and gardens as well as the stunning setting and amazing views from every angle ! We spent many nights eating cheese and drinking wine while watching the sun set and then gazing at the star-rider sky.
This is definitely one of the most beautiful part of France we’ve been to.
We enjoyed the local mornings and nights market in Duras, kayaking down the Dropt river and would recommend visiting local town/villages like Eymet, Villeréal and others mentioned in the guide. St Emilion is also a family favorite and is a must-visit! We now have a car full of wine !

We’ve appreciated the garden, the view and the region.
The storm also has been perfectly organised !!
Our special thanks to Frédéric for his friendly welcome, assistance and suggestions.

Family V. Amsterdam, The Netherlands. June 10th 2017

“Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your lovely villa. The elegant surroundings of Alouette helped made our holiday here in Duras very relaxing. The hillside setting is the perfect backdrop to enjoy stunning sunsets, sunrises and shooting stars. It was a shame to leave.”
The H family, September 2016

“Glorious sunshine for us all week. We’ve had a lovely time exploring. The children pretended to be Rapunzel at Château de Duras and had a wonderful day the Lac de Lougratte. I jogged in and out of the grape wines, which was surprisingly exhausting. We all had too many croissants ! Thank you for a terrific week in gorgeous setting.”
The L family, August 2016

“Thank you for a wonderful holiday, staying in your beautiful villa. We have loved the pool and the garden, the views are stunning and we have very much enjoyed taking our coffee in the mornings and drinking our wine, sitting at the various places dotted so perfectly around the grounds. We have enjoyed the Monday morning market in Duras and the night market at Monsegur on Wednesday evening.  It has been a truly relaxing and enjoyable week.”

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A Beautiful property in a delightful setting
“The property was beautifully furnished with attractive features and decoration. We found the property well equipped and very comfortable for 2 adult couples ( I am sure it would be fine for 6 people as well.)The kitchen may seem slightly on small side for some , but with a barbecue and plenty of outside eating we didn’t find this a problem. The setting is fantastic, with wonderful views, but still located near enough to amenities for practicalities. The pool had easy access and was well maintained , unobtrusively, during our stay. Our favourite villa rental in France from 20 years of holidays , and hoping to return.”

Despite the unseasonable weather we had a fantastic time here and have thoroughly enjoyed the house, pool and gardens. The views are spectacular. Frédéric is a gem, he has been so very friendly and welcoming, always contactable and helpful even in the thunderstorm and following power cut. We will take away photos and memories that will last long into the future.”
