Villa Alouette is a beautiful 3-bedroom holiday villa with stunning 360-degree countryside views, a private 12m x 5m heated saltwater swimming pool and one hectare of private grounds, near Duras and Monsegur in southwest France.
Set in an elevated position surrounded by countryside, Villa Alouette is approximately 3.5km from Duras and 8km from Monsegur, with restaurants, cafés, shops and weekly markets within a short drive.
The spacious 225m² villa is arranged entirely on one level and has been designed to make the most of its exceptional setting, with numerous French doors opening onto terraces, gardens and the pool area.
The private saltwater swimming pool measures 12m x 5m and is secured by an alarm. Pool heating is included during selected dates; please see the Price tab for full details.

Living areas
The post-and-beam architecture, arched entrances and alcoves combine traditional character with comfortable modern living. Numerous French doors open onto the terraces, gardens and pool, creating an easy indoor-outdoor lifestyle.
Living room
The spacious living room has high ceilings and plenty of natural light, with comfortable seating, TV, DVD player, Bluetooth speaker and piano.
Library
The adjoining library provides a quiet space for reading and relaxing.
Kitchen
The well-equipped kitchen includes an electric oven, 4-ring gas hob, American-style fridge/freezer, dishwasher, kettle, toaster and Nespresso coffee machine.
Dining room
The separate dining room is situated next to the kitchen, with double doors opening onto the terrace and surrounding countryside.
Bedrooms
All bedrooms have insect screens fitted to the windows.
Master bedroom: Electrically adjustable king-size bed (180cm x 190cm), en-suite bathroom with bath and shower, and private dressing area.
Bedroom 2: Twin beds (90cm x 190cm), which can be made into a large double if required. En-suite shower room. WC shared with Bedroom 3, with an additional WC in the hallway.
Bedroom 3: Large double bed and en-suite shower room. This bedroom can be accessed directly from the pool terrace or through Bedroom 2.
Each bedroom has a hairdryer.
Additional facilities
A washing machine and tumble dryer are located in the adjoining laundry/pantry.
A cot and high chair are available, together with toys and table tennis.
The long private driveway provides plenty of off-road parking.
Private heated swimming pool
The private saltwater swimming pool measures 12m x 5m and has pool steps for easy access.
The secluded pool area has plenty of sun loungers, seating and parasols, with space for relaxing and outdoor dining.
The pool is secured by an alarm.

A 25% deposit secures a reservation, with the balance payable 8 weeks before rental commencement.
A £700 security bond is pre-authorised against a credit card 7–10 days before arrival and released after departure, subject to a satisfactory inspection.

Bed linen, bath towels and pool towels.
For bookings of 2 weeks or more, a complimentary weekly supply of bed linen is provided together with a 4-hour clean.
Private Heated Swimming Pool
The pool is open from 18 April to 31 October.
Pool heating is included in the rental price from 16 May to 18 September 2026.
Outside these dates, pool heating is available at £225 per week if required.

The property is situated in Nouvelle-Aquitaine within the Bordeaux wine region, close to the borders of the Dordogne, Gironde and Lot-et-Garonne in southwest France.

We had a lovely time at the villa it’s beautiful and the pool and gardens are amazing. We have been coming to France for many years and always stay somewhere different and this is the first time we said that we would consider returning to a property. Everything seems to have been thought of.
Inside the place is spacious as well, with separate quest rooms. The house is very suited for a large family and/or 3 couples due to the lay out. The master bedroom is huge and the separate bathroom is very luxurious and also spacious. The place is very suited for a nice formal dinner in the separate dinning room. We ate outdoor all the time but the inside is very nice too. My little one had to chose between the grand piano and the pool, a mayor dilemma.
The pool is large enough to swim in it and not only to play around in it. It is surrounded by lavender bushes for a true French experience.
Duras is in the neighbourhood, there you can find a few shops, bars and restaurants such as bakers, a butcher, pizzeria and a supermarket. You should visit the Castle of Duras, it’s a recommendation definitely if you have kids.
All and all… I should not recommend it too much…. so we can keep it to ourselves!

We had the most wonderful stay in Villa Alouette. The house was exactly as described and we immediately felt at home. Great location, beautiful pool and perfect rooms and beds.Also big thanks to host Frédéric. We will definitely come back.
The place is absolutely beautiful, the pictures don’t do it enough justice.
The grounds are spacious, there’s a huge garden with everything you need in terms of a pool, BBQ, play area, etc. You have your own driveway and a covered car park.
Another amazing stay at Villa Alouette where we were very warmly hosted by Frederic and his team. Such a peaceful location, sitting proudly on the hill top with panaramic views. Very spacious gardens topped with a beautiful pool and it’s own water fountain. Inside the villa nothing is left to chance with a fully equipped kitchen and very comfortable bedrooms.
Looking at the pictures only tell half the story, it’s a superb place, if you don’t book early you’ll miss your chance as this place is always full, I wonder why?
Our stay at Villa Alouette was prefect for our week in May was brilliant. A very spacious and exceptionally well maintained and equipped villa. Fantastic swimming pool and grounds. The property manager Frederic was very welcoming and helpful during our stay. We can honestly say it was one of the best villa’s we have ever stayed in.
It’s such a beautiful villa in a wonderful location. The owners touches and approach make it a very special place and we will be back in the future.
We wouldn’t come so early in the year again as the weather was quite variable as you know and keeping the pool clean enough to swim in proved a challenge with so much wind and rain, despite your efforts and us cleaning it daily etc. That was a good lesson for us.
Overall though this remains a very special villa which we love. The whole experience is also hugely aided by Frédéric and the way he manage the property and interact with the visitors. It makes a big difference.

We have spend mots days by the pool and in the pool, having experienced great weather, taking full advantage of the equipment and facilities available to us at the Villa.The surroundings and grounds are stunning providing us a relaxing and peaceful . My wife and I, along with our eldest granddaughter, spent a truly memorable week at Maison Baleyssagues. For an introduction to the region of unspoilt bastide towns of upper Lot-et Garonne, eastern Gironde and Dordogne, Villa Alouette provides a superb base. It commands a beautiful panoramic view of the open countryside in all directions, which includes the extraordinary Château de Duras, itself an unmissable example of national, regional and local dedication to conservation of cultural heritage. Celebrated names like Saint Emilion, Bergerac, Sarlat-la-Canéda and Bordeaux, itself, also feature in a list of must-see’s offering a variety of attractions for every taste – and all within manageable reach. (Speaking of taste, do not miss le Pain de maïs at the boulangerie in Duras. It is to die for, easy to cut into toast-able slices and retains its moistness for a week.) (Frederic will vouch for this.) We cannot praise the villa without including its Property Manager, Frederic Guiraud, most welcoming and helpful, and always available at request on short notice. His welcome pack is the most thoughtful and generous we have ever encountered over many years of villa rentals in France. He has managed to compile a bound guide book featuring excellent introductions and practical visitor information on a multitude of towns and notable sites throughout the region. It obviously reflects considerable work and must be the most comprehensive visitor guide we have experienced anywhere. As for the villa, itself, it does justice to all the pictures you will have seen in the property listing. We found it impeccably clean and in excellent repair. We thoroughly enjoyed eating outside on the terraces, luxuriating and playing in and by the pool and feasting on the views, especially in the evenings after a busy day of touring. The beautifully tuned piano must also be mentioned for those who enjoy playing on a fine instrument or just gently tinkling for leisurely entertainment.
We have been holidaying in this area from over 30 years and without doubt, this is one of the most special places we have stayed in.
We plan to return next summer !
We can honestly say that Villa Alouette is the best property that we have stayed in in France. The photographs on the website do not really do the house justice. It is located in a wonderful elevated position, with spectacular views of the surrounding countryside.
The house is equipped to a very high standard with an abundance of crockery and cutlery. There were so many lovely touches, with fresh flower arrangements in several rooms and the best welcome pack we have ever had in our seven years of visiting France.

We love everything in the house and all the different changes/improvement in the house due to new ownership. Pool remain the same with its impressive shape !

As regular visitors we choose this area for over 30 years. This is without doubt the loveliest property we we ever had. The location and settings are glorious. We loved to sat in every places of the garden and at different times of the day. Loved the relaxing and beautiful pool area enjoyed the tasteful but functional rooms and cooked every night in this well appointed kitchen. All the small touches and details show great level of consideration from the owners. This is a lovely villa. Probably one of the best appointed in which we have ever stayed.
The pool and outdoor areas are just delightful. Our 2 1/2 year old granddaughter enjoyed picking up wonderful plums and playing with the games and toys in the little library.
Adults enjoyed the beautiful view end is sunsets.
How peaceful our surroundings where especially when we are used to the traffic noise of city ! Special thanks to Frederick who helped us where we had a little medical emergency.
This was our sixth visit to Villa Alouette – it really is a perfect place to stay! The villa was as comfortable and elegant as always with lots of stylish new touches that we enjoyed. There’s everything a family can possibly need from games and books to a wonderful new kitchen to fantastic grounds to walk and play in. The pool in particular was well used as it was so hot during our visit. It’s a lovely place to swim and relax. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and offers lots of fun and interesting places to visit with some great restaurants nearby. Particular favourites to eat for us are La Terrasse in Duras and Restaurant Italian Des Arcades in Eymet. The night market in Duras is also well worth a visit to try local wines and food. This was our sixth visit to the villa but it won’t be our last!
Villa Alouette is lovely. It’s as nice as the photos , the beds are super comfortable , the kitchen very well equipped and the pool area and outside terraces are charming , one with wonderful views and sunsets . The property manager is extremely helpful and went above and beyond to help with some issues we had . Thank you! We’ll be back

A fantastic week at the villa. We were lucky enough to get a last minute booking when travel restrictions were listed. We were slightly anxious about travelling in this times but always felt safe and welcomed be the locals. We’re so pleased we did came !
The villa is very well equipped and Frederic was so informative and helpful.
The massive selling point for us was the gorgeous pool and gardens as well as the stunning setting and amazing views from every angle ! We spent many nights eating cheese and drinking wine while watching the sun set and then gazing at the star-rider sky.
This is definitely one of the most beautiful part of France we’ve been to.
We enjoyed the local mornings and nights market in Duras, kayaking down the Dropt river and would recommend visiting local town/villages like Eymet, Villeréal and others mentioned in the guide. St Emilion is also a family favorite and is a must-visit! We now have a car full of wine !

A wonderful week at the Villa . The house is extremely well set up and equipped.
We enjoyed cooking and eating at all of the dining spots inside and outside.
Some of our party even swam in the pool, though the season was over.

“The property was beautifully furnished with attractive features and decoration. We found the property well equipped and very comfortable for 2 adult couples ( I am sure it would be fine for 6 people as well.)The kitchen may seem slightly on small side for some , but with a barbecue and plenty of outside eating we didn’t find this a problem.The setting is fantastic, with wonderful views, but still located near enough to amenities for practicalities. The views are spectacular. We enjoyed the night markets in Duras and Monsegur.
Would recommend the Terrasse restaurant in Duras.
