Maison de Tilleul is a well presented, pretty holiday villa with three bedrooms all on ground-floor level. Private pool and large shared garden. Situated near Bordeaux, Bergerac, Saint Emilion and the Dordogne in south west France.

Maison de Tilleul has an above ground pool and shares the large, 2 acre garden with the neighbouring property, Maison du Peche, which can be nice for making friends with fellow holiday makers. The pool is exclusively for guests of Maison de Tilleul.

Both properties are owned by the same family and can be rented together, known as Trespontets. Bookings for the individual properties are not available during July & August.

If you require complete privacy of the garden but don’t need the space of both properties, Trespontets can be rented with an option to close Maison du Peche for a reduction of £200 off the total cost.

4km to the picturesque village of Allemans du Dropt, sat on the River Dropt, with butchers, boulangerie, canoeing, and a friendly bar and restaurant. There is a 9 hole golf course within a 15 minute drive and many local walks, hikes and lakes for swimming. The historic town of Duras, with the famous Chateau Duras is just 10km away, where you will also find a selection of shops, bars and restaurants as well as a weekly market on Monday mornings and popular night markets every Thursday in the peak summer months.

The garden, which has a 40 ft Lime tree, is over two acres, with well kept lawns, shrubs, bushes, fruit trees and ample seating for relaxing lazy days and alfresco dining.

Maison de Tilleul is surrounded by great eateries; Monteton (3.5km) where the views are stunning boast a bohemian jazz bar, a fine dining restaurant and a 12th century church, from the view point you can see the 13 bell towers of nearby churches across the vista. There are also several places to eat in the nearby by Monsegur (15km), Duras and Marmande (21km).

Bedroom 1. Spacious, luxurious and light room with Super King Size bed (180cm x 200cm). Electric shutters to the windows.

Bedroom 2. Single bed (90cm x 190cm) with the possibility to add an additional single bed if required.  Electric shutters to window.

Bedroom 3.  Another spacious and luxuriously presented room with Super King Size bed (180cm x 200cm).  Electric shutters to windows and door.

Bed linen, bath towels and pool towels are provided.
A complimentary change of bed linen and bath towels will be provided for stays of 2 weeks or more.

Modern and well presented shower room with corner shower, basin unit and wc.


The well equipped kitchen is modern with a lovely country feel and views over the grounds. Electric oven, gas hob, extractor fan, washing machine, dishwasher, pantry cupboard with microwave, kettle, Nespresso coffee machine, cafetière, island unit with stools, fridge freezer.

Lounge / diner

Beautifully presented open plan living space with two sets of double doors opening onto the alfresco eating terrace and garden.
Wifi, 2 & 3 seater sofa, armchair, dining table seats 8, 42 ” TV with Freeview Sky, DVD player, Ipod docking station, DVD’s, games.

The large 2 acres of gardens are shared by the two properties, each has its own separate driveway/parking.
Pretty seating area with table & chairs seating 10 with large umbrella for shade, large gas and charcoal BBQ.

Private swimming pool

The private, above ground pool measures 3.4m x 6m and is 1.2m deep with a decked surround with loungers and chairs.

Private catering, cheese and wine pairing evenings and picnic’s can all be arranged. English and French spoken.

Coast / Beach

A fresh water lake with sandy beach at Blasimon is just 36km away and is a popular attraction to take children for a day out. The gently shelving sand provides a safe, fun environment for splashing around and cooling off in the heat of the summer sun. Blasimon lake.

The famous sandy bay at Arcachon (146km) with Europes tallest sand dune, Dune du Pilat. This is the start of a 150 mile long sandy beach south past Biscarosse, or while the day away meander your way around Arcachon and enjoy a relaxing lunch in one of the many French restaurants.

Aqua Park is 40km located near Bergerac. Beach, canoeing and a water park.

The local area and what to do, Allemans du Dropt / Monsegur / Duras, Bordeaux and the Dordogne, France

Maison de Tilleul is situated near the village of Allemans du Dropt 4.2km, sat on the River Dropt, with horse riding, canoeing, camping and a friendly bar and restaurant. There is a nearby 9 hole golf course within a 15 minute drive and many local walks, hikes and lakes for swimming.

The towns of Monsegur (15km) and Duras (8km) in the region of Aquitaine within the Bordeaux wine region and on the borders of the Dordogne, Gironde and Lot et Garonne, France.

Bordeaux city centre is a 100km drive to the west and Bergerac is 40km to the east, Saint Émilion 50km north.

This is the ideal base from which to explore South West France. Located in the region of Aquitaine on the 3 borders of Gironde / Dordogne / Lot et Garonne and is considered to be one of the most picturesque areas of France.

The gently rolling countryside is a pleasure to explore, with excellent roads winding their way through fields and vineyards. Perfect cycling country!

Monsegur and Duras are ancient Bastide towns set around a market square which are host to weekly markets and also a weekly night market during the peak summer season. There is a good selection of shops including cafes, bars and a pizzeria which host’s weekly live music.
There is also Cinema Eden in Monsegur, which does show international films in their original language version (VO), a selection of English speaking films with French subtitles.

The market squares are also hosts the many festivals and events throughout the year.

Wine and Gastronomy

The Bordeaux wine region has 21 appellations. Visit some of the many local Caves and Chateau who offer free tastings and tours while you choose a bottle or two.

Not to be missed is the world famous St Emilion 50km. A designated world heritage site and is truly stunning. Explore characteristic narrow lanes lined with wine merchants, cafes, restaurants and interesting independent shops. A guided tour of the monolithic church is highly recommended.

Follow Rick Steins French Odyssey (Bordeaux to Bazas) trail across this region and encounter some of the best culinary experiences France has to offer.


This designated world heritage site is a must for all visitors. This cosmopolitan city offers a diverse range of attractions. The golden triangle has a fabulous range of shops for those shopaholics.
A rich variety of architecture forms the backdrop for the street cafe’s, restaurants, bars and not forgetting the superb Grand Theatre.


The Dordogne is just one of the many places to visit for day trips. Anything from Canoeing or boat trips on the Dordogne river to exploring ancient villages.

The countryside around our properties is popular for cycling, whether it’s just a gentle ride around to explore or, if you are a keen cyclist, a long training ride on fantastic stretches of road to get the blood pumping whilst taking in the fantastic views.

Carbon road bike hire in Bordeaux, they will deliver to Bordeaux train station for free, they do not deliver to your door but if you are a serious cyclists just ride the bike back to your holiday villa. Carbon road bike hire Bordeaux.


Yes we believe chocolate is also an activity… we often have to visit and make sure the quality is up to standard so we can continue to recommend this.
Maison Guinguet gourmet chocolate, they have a very nice shop to visit next to their artisan factory. 2km from Duras.

Public tennis courts

Good quality courts are located in Monsegur, Duras & St Sernin de Duras and are usually booked via the local tourist information office.

Canoeing and kayaking

Canoe hire is available on the rivers. The river Dropt winds through the valley with a slow flow on it.
The Dordogne river at Sainte Foy has a faster pace but has plenty of canoe hire opportunities and literally just go with the flow and be picked up further down stream. Of course the easiest way is a boat trip and let some one else do the work.

There are many pay and play golf courses within the area, the best being the beautiful Chateau Des Vigiers Golf and Country Club 26km. The chateau dates back to 1597 and is set in 450 acres of stunning countryside. Facilities also include a fine restaurant and relaxing beauty spa. Most villages and towns hold weekly markets full of fresh and interesting local produce. An ideal place to pick up your holiday mementoes and gifts.
Both Monsegur and Duras also have night markets during the summer where you can eat and have a drink as well as browse the many stalls.

Duras: Every Monday from 8.30 to 14:00 (closes at 12:00 from September to June). Nice market, excellent Organic veg’s & fruit producer. Excellent organic goat cheese producers too… Foie gras, Magrets and many stands of food/non food.
Allemans du Dropt (4km): Every Sunday morning.
Sainte Foy La Grande (30km): Every Saturday from 8.30 to 12:00. Quite big market with excellent producers.
Monségur: Every Friday from 8.30 to 12. Nice small market with good fish stall and butcher.
Issigeac (37km): Every Sunday morning.
Eymet (16km): Every Thursday morning.

Night markets

From 1st of July till End of August, very successful, where you can eat and dance, with many craft and food stands. Go early if you want to park close to the village.
Duras (8km) Night market: Every Thursday evening till end of August.
Lévignac de Guyenne (4km) Night market: Every Friday evening till end of August.
Monsegur (15km) Night market. Every Wednesday evening till mid of September.


Carrefour Contact supermarket – just out of Duras on the direction of Sainte Foy La Grande. Small but very well stocked (includes English part). Open from 8am to 8pm nonstop from Mondays to Saturdays. Sundays from 9am to 1pm.

“We loved this house, it is so beautifully decorated and tastefully furnished. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed. The beds were super comfy. We loved all the shady areas in the gardens and the pool was perfect for cooling down after sunbathing in the hot French sunshine! Duras is a lovely, traditional town and the local markets are well worth a visit. In short, we can well recommend this property for a lovely relaxing holiday!

Fabulous restaurants in every direction, great kitchen fully equipped incl washer dryer plus outdoor BBQ. Large rooms to spread out in. Excellent beds and pillows. Big screen TV with satellite and DVD player. Nice outdoor table and furniture for dining al fresco. Historical castles nearby. Couldn’t be better.
