Ferme des Rivailles is a 3 bedroom modern family home with architectural features now a holiday home, private heated secure saltwater 16m x 4m pool with an electric security cover, near Bordeaux and Bergerac in SW France
Situated between Bordeaux and Bergerac near the border of the Dordogne.
Within a short drive of the ancient towns of restaurants, banks, shops and supermarkets as well as weekly farmers markets and night market in the peak summer months.
The nearest restaurant and small supermarket is in the small town of Seyches, 2.2km. This can be walked via a farm track from the house and a small local road, 1.5km (20 minutes walk). This can be part of a nice 13km circular walk. There are 2 or 3 places to eat in Seyches, we recommend Le Vieux Porche Booking is advised or if going for lunch do be there by 12 midday.
Nearest town with a selection of supermarkets, shops and restaurants, historic town of Miramont-de-Guyenne, 10km.
Marmande, a large town with hyper-markets, many shops and restaurants, 15km.

The pool is surrounded with non slip tiles, a gentle 6m slope from no depth at all to approximately 1.5m deep, the rest of the pool is 1.5m deep.

There is a large barn next to the house, this is used for private storage by the owner, this will not be used while guest’s are at the property.
The surrounding farmland is owned by the owner’s family. A friendly horse is stabled next door and does come up to the boundary fence.

Ferme des Rivailles changeover day: Saturday during the peak season
Short breaks with flexible arrival/departure dates are available.
Reservation Information:
No booking fee.
A 25% deposit secures a reservation with the balance payable 8 weeks before rental commencement.
A security bond of 800 € is pre-authorised against a credit card 7 – 10 days before arrival and will be cancelled subject to satisfactory inspection after departure.

Pool information:
The pool is open from April 22nd to November 3rd 2023 and from April 20th to November 1st 2024.
Pool heating is included in the price until September 22nd 2023 and from May 18th to September 20th 2024.
Outside of these dates pool heating is 250€ per week – bookable in advance.
Please note specific temperatures can not be guaranteed as pool heating is influenced by weather conditions and other factors.

An ideal base from which to explore southwest France. Located in the region of Aquitaine on the 3 borders of Gironde / Dordogne / Lot et Garonne and is considered to be one of the most picturesque areas of France.
The nearest restaurant and a small super-market in the small town of Seyches, 2.2km. This can be walked via a farm track and a small local road, 1.5km (20 minutes walk).
Nearest town with a selection of supermarkets, shops and restaurants, the historic town of Miramont-de-Guyenne, 10km.
Marmande, a large town with hyper-markets, many shops and restaurants, 15km.
Ferme des Rivailles is situated near other historic towns such as Duras 20km (Lot et Garonne), Monsegur 26km (Gironde), Eymet 20km, Saint Émilion 64km, the city of Bergerac is 44km, Bordeaux city centre is 107km.
Miramont-de-Guyenne, Eymet, Monsegur and Duras are ancient Bastide towns set around a market square which are host to weekly markets and also a weekly night market during the peak summer season. There is a good selection of shops, cafés, bars, restaurants and boulangeries.
We love the volunteer-run Cinema Eden in Monsegur, they show some international films in their original language version (VO) with French subtitles.
Activities
Coast, Beach and Water park
Riverside park and beach at Marmande 16km, La Filhole. Stoney beach by the river, pleasant park area with walks, grass areas, woods, shaded picnic areas, wc and parking.
Aqua Fun Park near Casteljaloux is 41km. Park with a huge freshwater lake, picnic benches, walks, facilities, man-made sandy beach, water sports, kid’s play area…. great for adults also.
A freshwater lake with a sandy beach at Blasimon is just 49km away and is a popular attraction to take children for a day out. The gently shelving sand provides a fun environment for splashing around and cooling off in the heat of the summer sun. Blasimon lake.
Aqua Park is 41km located near Bergerac. Beach, canoeing and a water park.
Chocolate
Yes, we believe chocolate is also an activity, we often have to visit to make sure the quality is up to standard… Maison Guinguet 20km, near Duras. A nice shop to visit, selling chocolate, gifts and offers guided visits to their artisan factory in July and August.
Zip wire adventure and climbing park
Adventure park and playground and snack bar. Des chênes toi Aventure 28km, fun for all of the family.
Duras Castle
The famous Chateau de Duras, 21km away. It’s well worth a visit, climb to the top and see the stunning 360-degree vista.
Tea room with gardens
Jardin de Boissona, six small gardens, each with its own character. Outside and inside seating. Known for their teas and delicious cakes. 23km.
Boat trips
Dordogne river trips are available on traditional boats in Bergerac with Les Gabarres de Bergerac. 44km.

Canoeing and kayaking
Canoe hire is available on the rivers. The river Dropt winds through the valley with a slow flow on it, whilst the Dordogne river at Sainte Foy La Grande has a faster pace and has plenty of canoe hire opportunities.

There are pay and play golf courses within the area, the best being the beautiful Chateau Des Vigiers Golf and Country Club 36km. The chateau dates back to 1597 and is set in 450 acres of stunning countryside. Facilities also include a fine restaurant and a relaxing beauty spa. Local markets and supermarkets
Markets
Most villages and towns hold weekly markets full of fresh and interesting local produce. An ideal place to pick up your holiday mementoes and gifts too.
Duras (20km): Every Monday from 8.30 to 14:00 (closes at 12:00 from September to June). Nice market with excellent organic fruit and veg, organic goats cheese, foie gras and a selection of other stalls.
Sainte Foy La Grande (40km): Every Saturday from 8.30 to 12:00. Big market with excellent producers and winner of “Favourite French Market” in 2014.
Monségur (25km): Every Friday from 8.30 to 12. Is a nice small market with a particularly good fish stall.
Issigeac (37km): Every Sunday morning. Extremely popular. Top tip – arrive early!
Eymet (20km): Every Thursday morning. Medieval town.
Summer night markets
Both Monsegur and Duras also have vibrant night markets during the peak summer months grab a bite to eat from one of the stalls and enjoy your food with a drink at one of the bars. There’s usually musical entertainment which creates a lively atmosphere.
