Rainettes, an architect designed holiday villa with a private heated pool and stunning valley views. Set on top of a hill at the end of its own driveway, this property is in a very private location.
Ideally suited for up to 6 adults over 3 bedrooms and a mezzanine area that has 2 single beds which is maybe more ideal for children or teenagers.
Located between Bordeaux, Bergerac and Saint Emilion near the border of the Dordogne in the heart of the Bordeaux wine region of France, making it an ideal location to explore this beautiful unspoilt area. Within a 10 minute drive of the ancient Bastide towns of Monsegur 7km (Gironde) and Duras 9km, both have bars, restaurants, banks, shops and supermarkets as well as weekly farmers markets and night market in the peak summer months.
3.5km walk via country lanes to the village of Dieulivol where there is a cafe bar which serves drinks and light snacks, by special request they can create a BBQ meal for you, you can also buy ice cream or a bottle of local wine.
Daily fresh bread from the post office or from the cafe bar on Sunday’s by request. There is an ancient church with stunning views over the valley.
1.3km to the nearest vineyard with wine tasting.
1.5km to a tree adventure and climbing park, great for kids of all ages and all the family.

Bedrooms and bathrooms
Bedroom 1. Spacious bedroom with 150cm x 190cm king size double bed. Sliding door opens out on to a small patio with a table and chairs.
En-suite bathroom with bath, wash basin and wc. There is also a further separate wc on the ground floor in the utility room.
Bedroom 2. Double aspect windows with far reaching rural views over the pool and gardens, 150cm x 200cm king size bed.
Small separate space with a child’s bed 75cm x 150cm.
En-suite shower room with a wash basin and wc.
Bedroom 3. Double aspect windows with rural views, 140cm x 190 double bed.
Small separate space with a baby cot 60cm x 120cm.
En-suite shower room with a wash basin and wc. From this shower room there is an additional door that opens on the landing and can be used by the mezzanine area if required.
A large mezzanine lounge with seating, another room to sit and relax, this spacious area can also accommodate 2 guests in twin beds (90cm x 190cm) which is ideal for children or teenagers. This room overlooks the living area below.
The shower room with wc of bedroom 3 can be accessed from landing, if required. There is also a separate wc on the ground floor in the utility room.
A cot (linen provided) and high chair are available on request – please specify at time of booking.
Bed linen, bath towels and pool towels are provided and included in the price. A complimentary supply of bed linen and bath towels will be provided for stays of 2 weeks or more.
Open plan living area
Presented with a homely feel, the spacious open plan living area has a well equipped kitchen with large range-style cooker with gas hob, American style fridge-freezer, wine cooler, microwave, kettle and toaster.
The lounge and dining space are set around a central open fireplace providing a good social space for relaxing and eating. TV, DVD Player.
A separate laundry room houses a washing machine and tumble dryer and a separate wc with wash basin.
The 10m x 4m private heated pool is situated next to the house. It has a security alarm, the shallow end is 1.1m deep, deep end approximately 1.5m deep. There are steps within the pool for easy access, the first step is 20cm deep, second is 50cm, third is 80cm. There is also a poolside shower. All measurements are approximate.
There are various terraces around the grounds for sunbathing and dining, a charcoal BBQ, an open barn with table tennis, a further open barn with shaded seating and plenty of lawned garden with children’s swings.
The property is accessed from its long private driveway and is surrounded by its own garden and lawns. The house set up on a hill, there are two valleys either side of the house with views from the house and garden.

Located in the heart of the Bordeaux famous wine region where there are plenty of vineyards for tastings and tours. The picturesque towns of Duras and Monsegur are a short drive to excellent dining and shopping and the local farmhouses and countryside perfect for exploring.
Coast / Beach
A fresh water lake with sandy beach at Blasimon is just 22km away and is a popular attraction to take children for a day out. The gently shelving sand provides a safe, fun environment for splashing around and cooling off in the heat of the summer sun. Blasimon lake.
The famous sandy bay at Arcachon (146km) with Europes tallest sand dune, Dune du Pilat. This is the start of a 150 mile long sandy beach south past Biscarosse, or while the day away meander your way around Arcachon and enjoy a relaxing lunch in one of the many French restaurants.

We are happy to consider alternative days and lengths of stay outside of peak season.
Shops and supermarkets close at lunch time on Sundays. The house manager offers a “basic shop” service to provide essentials for your first night for a charge of €10 in addition to the cost of shopping. A meal drop-off service, hamper and private catering are also available from Loving Aquitaine.
No booking fee.
A 25% deposit secures a reservation with the balance payable 8 weeks before rental commencement.
A refundable security bond of £500 is payable with the balance which is returned within 7 days of departure subject to a satisfactory inspection.

Please note: specific temperatures can not be guaranteed as pool heating is influenced by weather conditions and other factors.
Additional cleaning can be arranged and is payable locally at a charge of 15€ per hour.
Logs for the fire can be purchased locally at cost price from the house manager.

A maximum of 2 dogs are considered on request at a charge of £50 each per booking, plus an additional security bond of £250.
The local area and what to do, Monsegur / Duras, Bordeaux and the Dordogne, France
Situated near the towns of Monsegur and Duras in the region of Aquitaine within the Bordeaux wine region and on the border of the Dordogne, Gironde and Lot et Garonne, France.

Bordeaux city centre is just 68km to the west and Bergerac is 46km to the east, Saint Emilion 39km north.
This is the ideal base from which to explore South West France. Located in the region of Aquitaine on the three borders of Gironde / Dordogne / Lot et Garonne and is considered to be one of the most picturesque areas of France.
The gently rolling countryside is a pleasure to explore, with excellent roads winding their way through fields and vineyards. Perfect cycling country!
Monsegur (6.7km) and Duras (8.7km) are ancient Bastide towns set around a market square which are host to weekly markets and also a weekly night market during the peak summer season. There is a good selection of shops including cafes, bars and a pizzeria which host’s weekly live music.
There is also Cinema Eden in Monsegur, which does show international films in their original language version (VO), a selection of English speaking films with French subtitles.
The market squares are also hosts the many festivals and events throughout the year.
Vineyards and wine tasting
So many in the area, the nearest are:
1km, 3 Faurie, 33580 Dieulivol. Tasting available, the sparkling is a good option.
1.4km. Good table wine especially the red, this will be the first year for the rose, ideally by the box, buy direct only, part of the Accrobranche park.
Wine and Gastronomy
The Bordeaux wine region has 21 appellations. Visit some of the many local Caves and Chateau who offer free tastings and tours while you choose a bottle or two.
Not to be missed is the world famous Saint Emilion (39km). A designated world heritage site and is truly stunning. Explore characteristic narrow lanes lined with wine merchants, cafes, restaurants and interesting independent shops. A guided tour of the monolithic church is highly recommended.
Follow Rick Steins French Odyssey (Bordeaux to Bazas) trail across this region and encounter some of the best culinary experiences France has to offer.
This designated world heritage site is a must for all visitors. This cosmopolitan city offers a diverse range of attractions. The golden triangle has a fabulous range of shops for those shopaholics.
A rich variety of architecture forms the backdrop for the street cafe’s, restaurants, bars and not forgetting the superb Grand Theatre.
The Dordogne is just one of the many places to visit for day trips. Anything from Canoeing or boat trips on the Dordogne river to exploring ancient villages.

Visit Europe’s largest sand dune (approximately 135km), the Dune du Pilat where both the climb and the views will take your breath away! Reward yourself by feasting on fresh seafood around the Bay of Arcachon or take the ferry to Cap Ferret and feel the sand between your toes whilst you enjoy oysters and chilled white wine.

The countryside around our properties is popular for cycling, whether it’s just a gentle ride around to explore or, if you are a keen cyclist, a long training ride on fantastic stretches of road to get the blood pumping whilst taking in the fantastic views.

Carbon road bike hire in Bordeaux, they will deliver to Bordeaux train station for free, they do not deliver to your door but if you are a serious cyclists just ride the bike back to your holiday villa. Carbon road bike hire Bordeaux.
Yes we believe chocolate is also an activity… we often have to visit and make sure the quality is up to standard so we can continue to recommend this.
Maison Guinguet gourmet chocolate, they have a very nice shop to visit next to their artisan factory. 2km from Duras.
Public tennis courts
Good quality courts are located in Monsegur, Duras & St Sernin de Duras and are usually booked via the local tourist information office.
Canoeing and kayaking
Canoe hire is available on the rivers. The river Dropt winds through the valley with a slow flow on it.
The Dordogne river at Sainte Foy has a faster pace but has plenty of canoe hire opportunities and literally just go with the flow and be picked up further down stream. Of course the easiest way is a boat trip and let some one else do the work.

There are many pay and play golf courses within the area, the best being the beautiful Chateau Des Vigiers Golf and Country Club (28km). The chateau dates back to 1597 and is set in 450 acres of stunning countryside. Facilities also include a fine restaurant and relaxing beauty spa.
Aqualand water park is located at Bassin D’Arcachon, 125km.
Most villages and towns hold weekly markets full of fresh and interesting local produce. An ideal place to pick up your holiday mementoes and gifts.
Both Monsegur and Duras also have night markets during the summer where you can eat and have a drink as well as browse the many stalls.
Duras: Every Monday from 8.30 to 14:00 (closes at 12:00 from September to June). Nice market, excellent Organic veg’s & fruit producer. Excellent organic goat cheese producers too… Foie gras, Magrets and many stands of food/non food.
Allemans du Dropt (20km): Every Sunday morning.
Sainte Foy La Grande (22km): Every Saturday from 8.30 to 12:00. Quite big market with excellent producers.
Monségur: Every Friday from 8.30 to 12. Nice small market with good fish stall and a good butcher.
Issigeac (50km): Every Sunday morning.
Eymet (30km): Every Thursday morning.
From 1st of July till End of August, very successful, where you can eat and dance, with many craft and food stands. Go early if you want to park close to the village.
Duras (9km) Night market: Every Thursday evening till end of August.
Lévignac de Guyenne (15km) Night market: Every Friday evening till end of August.
Monsegur (6km) Night market. Every Wednesday evening till mid of September.
